I recently changed the stock shift knob to a spoon shift knob. Unfortunately, the collar wont fit back into the lock nut as it once was. It may not be an issue to some, but theres a slight gap that bothers me. I have provided a photo. Doesn't look bad but theres a slight gap from the bottom of the knob and the collar itself. I would just like the collar to fit on as before.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I find that if you twist it counter-clockwise about 45 degrees (so that the seam in the stitching isn't aligned straight anymore), then push up to the knob and twist it back clockwise until it's straight, it locks in nice and tight.

Maybe it's just the photo but it looks fine to me. You're almost surely overthinking, but who am I to tell you what to be bothered by?

The thing is though, it does seem that once you alter that collar in any way it may never be the same. It was like that when I swapped for an OEM titanium knob in my DE5... it doesn't bother me but I know it's far more loose than it was before I messed with it.

If it bothers you that much, perhaps consider buying another OEM collar, or I know at least Acuity makes aftermarket collars that seem pretty popular. I have a shift knob on order that I think I'll probably get an aftermarket collar to go with because the OEM collar doesn't feel as "fresh" as I think it should- but I'm just waiting to see the new knob in person before deciding on what collar I want.

when I was rocking my spoon shift knob I used the hybrid shift collar. I would highly suggest getting the Hybrid one vs Acuity. Fits much better with no risk of putting folds in the shift boot.

Unfortunately, if you want another OEM collar you actually have to buy a whole new shift boot. They are not sold separately.

Here's the part number for reference.

Boot Assy., Change Lever *NH900L*(DEEP BLACK)
Part Number: 83443-T60-A31ZA
