Shifter Plate in Ti - CUSTOM - Designed with JDC Customs (warning, eye candy)

Well, this is sort of a fun post - did an acuity shifter. Great update. Then did an acuity extension rod in stainless (to add weight and height....they have ti and may go there later, but went stainless steel). Then found a Tokyo made recycled skateboard knob in 1.5" diameter (same as stock and my sweet spot for size...2" feels too big...tried one that was 917 in looks at 2" and it felt too big. Not totally satisfied with the shift plates out there you can get to remove the boot, ti and 3d printed. Know of at least 3 vendors.

So did a CUSTOM shifter plate.

Source JDC Customs - Ti. Designed with them sort of iteratively...they listened to my idea and came up with a plan....I changed how they labeled it to be like a rehaut...they nailed it. I find it is perfect and suits the "used for driving, drivers car..." mentality....looks cool and the feel is unsurpassed. It is sort of the centerpiece of the interior...it is the best one now by far in my opinion.

JDC can customize it a lot...colors, etc. This is what I wanted...subtle and clean looking.

Cannot say good enough things about JDC Customs - super great people. Great process. They really listened.

I am quite sure they'll make you one if you ask.

Fit and finish is beyond just superb. It is as good or better than anything I've seen in the auto industry including exotics.....

That looks cool. Matches the honeycomb of the dash and vents well. I wonder if they could make them without the brand name etched in it.

Ask them...I like the branding actually....they made such a good piece that it sort of supports them. Think rehaut (spelling?) on an R brand watch....it is very tasteful in person....actually adds to it. The coloring of the text is next level stuff.

The shifter says acuity.... I like to support independent vendors who do amazing work.

Price will likely come down if a lot get sold, so in theory if all of you want them..it could get cheaper. I have nothing to do with JDC save I was a customer and they were willing to try this idea out with me. I saw intermediate steps - there is talent and work in this thing...a lot of it. Given the work needed, it is actually a great deal.

What you need to also know - I am super happy with it.

I chose a raw aluminum wunderladen coolant tank too....it is in that league of quality. Sort of a great match for the Acuity shifter too. It just works.

JDC has the ability to do a lot with the titanium in terms of colors...a lot. So you can take this design and make it yours for sure.

Looks great and it’s nice to know someone is willing to do custom shift plates. I’ve been considering a gated manual plate for a while and plan to draft it up/3d print to conceptualize but wasn’t sure if anyone would be willing to take it any further.

Cool idea (gaited). Very.

For me: I want to be able to see the acuity shifter as I find the mechanism itself elegant and nice to look at...so if I did gaiting I'd want the mesh that JDC used in most of it too just to see things...having it worked out in 3D is really key, agree with you. JDC nailed the mesh perfectly.

Key will be the shifting mechanism clearing the gate plane (not just the rod...the part that holds the rod).

That looks sick. I have the fe1 and had a boot delete stuck in my head for weeks and finally just did one myself with 1/32" aluminum sheet and dremel. Made it a brushed aluminum and got the billetworkz titanium sphere. I have it set a little higher now, but i love it

Every "car person" who sees it is just blown away. Seems like it is sort of OEM...so call it OEM+ given the hex pattern is a match. No issues after a few weeks. Recommended.

Probably not worth the effort, too many variables that would cause it not to feel great.

I loved the idea...and they looked very closely at the Acuity (and stock, don't have a Hybrid racing one) - the issue is the plane of the plate is lower than the clamp on the rod....so simply may not fit unless you make a sort of dome/bubble/raised level for the gated plate. To me, that would likely look to contrived. I like this simple, clean look a lot and don't urgently need a gaited unit. I like too the ability to adjust the shifter...that goes out the door with a gaited unit....this lets people play around a bit, etc.

So issues:
1 clamp height on rod collision
2 lose adjustability

(and to get it just right may be such a pita that it would put most buyers off....)
