Stock rim paint too weak?

Hi everyone

I am the proud owner of a 2024 CTR championship white with OEM 19 rims.

Is it just my perception or is the paint on these rims too weak, even washing them causes scratches and marks.

What experience do you have with this issue!?

Same experience here. Very weak paint. Others have similar experience as well.

With less than 100 miles, mine had rock chips all over them. I never even drove it anywhere other than main roads. Not happy.

While I agree the paint is thin/weak (wheels & car overall), you might consider your methods if you’re scratching the wheels while washing them.

Mine never scratched washing, but unfortunately I did curb rash them already a few times. This color for me works perfectly to touch it up.

Yes, it really is washed carefully 99% of the time, but from time to time it goes into automatic car washes and I think that is where it happens.

unfortunately the paint is very thin apparently and that makes it easy to scratch.

I have also bought several touch-ups for details of this type. I am passing the links of the products so that you have them in case you need them.

I know the manager at a tire discounter that I go to locally and have for long time now, good guy. He stated that the paint is fkng cheap after putting some all season tires on for me recently.

Rashed the passenger front last night. I wanted to vomit. That moment is instant blood draining from your face. Fortunately wasn't too bad. I came in too tight on a curb thinking I am comfortable with the cars dimensions. I usually come in wide and back in with the mirror down to avoid rash. Anyway, had a mobile repair come fix it today. My OCD needle was pinned in the red...needed this done ASAP. LOL. $215 for mobile service including tax in Miami. Letting it dry in the garage now. Will check the repair more thoroughly tomorrow. On first inspection, good enough.

Thanks for this post. I am getting scratches from my gravel driveway! I've been looking for the correct color and couldn't get a straight answer from Honda. So it's the "Matte Black Satin" color?

Yep, the one I got matches extremely well. Now only if I could find touch up color for my aftermarket wheels. Enkei Triumph Storm gray.
