What's the negotiation tactic?
My guess would be leveraging competition with allocations/MSRP dealers or just complete avoidance until the market turns because of the amount readily available.

That is all a big maybe until we see past the initial launch numbers of what dealers get.

Just got it this past Wednesday 04/26/2023. $5k over msrp. Boost blue. #1765. Seat rail recalled performed (took about 1 month).
Congrats! Were you on a waiting list or did you find a dealer that had a reasonable markup?

I put my refundable $500 deposit down last year around July. They told me that they will sell it at $5k over MSRP at that very moment. I was the second person on their list but the guy ahead of me backed out due to the color being BB so I pulled the trigger!

I don't follow. Are you using this tactic in hopes of securing a CTR or an ITS?

Obviously the CTR but if you’re confused because I’m excited about a car which is essentially the same car but widely available it’s because that’s the point.

Still talking in what if’s but if the ITS starts to take business away from CTR sales with unjustifiable ADM’s I’m sure that’ll create room for negotiation if they continue to sit or the sales team/managers who were oblivious to its existence will now realize they have competition. At the end of the day the CTR will be the more rare older brother so ADM’s will still last but not at the numbers we’re used to seeing.

I think a lot of misinformation is being presented with respect to "avg ADM" because 95% of people are getting their numbers by calling the dealership vs walking in. I've walked into 3 dealers who had unsold allocations and every single one was willing to negotiate down below 10K ADM.

I'm not saying $15-20K dealers aren't out there - I'm just saying under $10K is still very achievable in my mind.

10K ADM is still ridiculous, this is not a GT3.

Concur completely....which is why I still don't own one. I'm just saying people are posting as if $15-20K is the new norm. It's simply the number they give you on the phone. I think posts like this 'normalize' the outrageous ADM's. Even the inventory tracker that allows people to input dealer ADM's has become misleading as I is mostly based on telephone conversations. I'm just saying that's their starting point.

I'm a firm believer we will see PLENTY of inventory by next Winter, and the Type-S will drive the prices back down below $5K ADM for those that put in work. Most of the dealers in my area are already on their 3rd and 4th allocations and things just got really rolling in October.

The problem with this is.. how many people can just walk into three different dealerships with CTRs sitting on the lot? I have 3 different Honda dealers in our city. None of them have a CTR, and certainly not all at once. The vast majority of us can only call dealers and try to haggle, but as you pointed out, people do not take that as seriously as showing up in person. I often work 60-70 hrs/week, I'm just not going to spend my entire day off driving hours away to a dealer with the hopes that they will negotiate. Probably why I don't have a CTR, but that's my limit.

I thought you were able to agree to one that is in transit... ?
