So heres my order of my first few mods (i usually hit QOL before performance)

Remote start with phone app/tracking
ceramic tints
rock guards/mudflaps
(while wiring in my remote start) I created an extra front 12v outlet and 2 outlets in the rear (where my previous sport touring had the rear seat heater buttons) I created an independent circuit for these things i didnt just "tap in" on anything
last but not least, quality radar detector
whoa whoa whoa I'm gonna need some details on this remote start/tracking business.

i'd be interested too as Fortin doesn't have support for the Type R\Type S and iDataStart has mentioned that the clutch wiring is different from the Type R to the non-Type R 11th gen. civics so no guide on that available that I can find. I'll have to look into Compustar.

For those wondering, In the past i've installed iDataStart and Fortin remote start. Both support manual transmission, you just need to put it in activation mode which is a sequence similar to a pedal dance or through the remote to insure that your car is in Neutral when locking the car. Example video below:

OR Compustar makes it a bit easier

unless you are remote starting the car and getting in it in a few minutes its not great for the engine to let it idle while its warming up

I actually just took an EXTREMELY poor installed fortin unit out of a FK8 because the shop that installed it had the guy return like 3x and it still wouldn't work they ended up refunding him when he brought all the stuff back.

There IS some extra clutch wiring that needs to be done. You should see all the wild attempts and funky gizmos people have used in an attempt to get a remote start working. Best one was a guy With a ton of adjustable resistors on the clutch wires.

I'm not getting into this. Lol I will say this. I'll continue to warm my cars up.

Ahh I see, I had a complete brain fart. For some reason I was thinking it was a remote key access like how non USDM cars get.

Well with the phone app you have access to start, stop, lock, unlock and any other features the installer may have wired in (maybe you want to turn on your underglow or something lol) you have access to this from anywhere because it uses cell service. (there is a subscription fee). Not sure if this is what you mean by remote access.

Nice list! Is there an OEM offering for the remote start or where did you get it? What brand/model? Easy to install?

Tint for myself to battle the Louisiana heat, and rear air vents for my kids.
I have considered this one as well. One video I watched about this mod said the fitment of the rear cover isn't great. Have you seen this as well?

You have to work at the fitment for sure. There was a lot of trial and error with the dremel when I installed the rear panel. I got it to line up 90% of the way around, but the upper left corner kept giving me issues. Nobody but myself knows that there's a very small gap right there.

OEM wont offer remote starts on manual transmission vehicles. I installed a viper unit in my car as I'm an authorized dealer. I also deal with a few other brands of remote starts (idatalink, compustar, fortin, etc) All the FK8s I have done has been with viper units.

I have an FL5 to do soon. Ill be installing a compustar unit into that one. I want to play around with some of their security stuff they offer to prevent relay attacks and so forth. They've got some new products out.

Remote starts are definitely not all that plug and play even the "plug and play" ones. I'd highly advise seeing a legit installer. I've seen some guys wreck havoc inside other peoples dashboards lol

You couldnt grab that piece and let it fit right in from a premium trim? The fk8s use the sport touring console pieces to accomplish this if im not mistaken. I opted to do something a little differently with the back of my console.

The piece is stamped honda oem with a part number (could still be a reproduction though possibly). The issue is the location and number of tabs that the type r uses vs the sport touring.
