I agree. Once you see the photos it's clear: you can't run the front lip without the other pieces. The lip is too large and angular and resembles none of the factory aero pieces. Once you see it, you expect to see other pieces like it, and you don't.
Ugh you guys have all done such a crappy job of peer pressuring me into buying this thing! 🤣🤣

So I’ve got a line on a Mugen front lip, side skirts, and rear under spoiler for about $2,300, but I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger even though I’ve been eyeing them for a while now… someone help me decide.
  • Personally, I feel like Mugen or Spoon are the only manufacturers with aero pieces which require drilling/cutting that will be positive or neutral to the value of the car long term. Unfortunately, they’re also likely to be some of the most expensive.
  • I think my car could make it in/out of my driveway with the lip, it’ll be close, but there’s a lot of talk about lips being fairly sacrificial. If I don’t lose it to my driveway, what’ll it be? A parking stopper? A curb?
  • I love the idea/look of a front lip, and like the Mugen brand… but it doesn’t seem like the car will have a cohesive look without the side skirts and rear under spoiler too. I like things matcha-matchy. If you do it, do it all the way, ya know?
  • Stock, I don’t think the car’s hurting for bigger side skirts or rear skirts, but do one thing, gotta do them all… then how long until I want the wing too?
  • If I don’t get any of it, there’s nothing to mess up, no holes to drill, and $2300 can go pretty far in basic performance parts to compliment the Hondata tune: PRL HVI + turbo inlet, maybe a TSP down pipe, and bigger intercooler.

So? Strangers of the internet? What’s the right call? Buy Mugen? Or buy some bolt-ons to get movin’?
Take the 2300 and buy bitcoin. Wait 30 days and see if you still want to spend it on car parts.

Ooooooook that's not Mugen or Spoon, but it looks pretty sweet--I don't know anything about Adro, but it seems like their kits only come in carbon fiber, no?

Afro is big in the BMW and Korean car communities. Yes they’re carbon only, can’t really go wrong with them. Only God knows how long that front lip is going to last with it being so chunky though

I do like the lip... even it's giving me some Mitsubishi vibes, maybe? Just me?

I like it, I’d be looking into it if I didn’t already have a front lip. I need someone to make a rear diffuser with a F1 style brake light

I looked at the Mugen kit for a while and every time I look at the sides where it requires cutting of the tabs I say no. Plus I actually think the way the car sits, it really is just missing a front lip and maybe a rear sides. I don’t have the luxury of storage space so I’m not wanting to store the stock aero parts if I don’t have to. I’m convinced that the car with a lip will not need lowering. Unless for looks. To me the car is plenty low and does its job at the track.

With my recent trip to WTGI, where I had to make pit stops in rural area to grab a bite, I had plenty of opportunity to crack a front lip since most places don’t have paved driveways.

I’m spending the money to get a Voltex wing but I don’t want to spend $2k on a lip that might have a short life span.

Adro is pretty popular for BMW, Supra, and KDM. Glad they're coming to JDM now too. More options for us and they're in CA too.

What are the odds they'll have gloss black versions of this kit in addition to carbon? Implausible? Be honest.

Do Voltex actually do wind tunnel testing or do they just model it?
