Sold my DE5 a few months ago.. two months later, I missed the driving experience and found my dream FL5 in RED so I had to pull the trigger. To the dark side - we'll see how long it stays stock. Every car I tell myself I'm keeping it OEM and it doesn't seem to stay that way for long so I'm not saying anything this time around 😂 Terrible financial decisions can be seen on my IG: @ joemamadrives

Yeah, I was going to do the Integra but it was way more expensive to lease and I wanted a more track version. And I’ve always dreamt about a white FL5 or type R in general. Never dreamt about an Integra lol and the seats are too… Bland!

Ironically, the only reason I got the DE5 to begin with was because the FL5's had mark-ups about 2 years ago when I first started looking lol. After driving both, I can see the justified pricing on the integra. I had it for a little over a year - seats were meh but sound system, interior look and "feel" was more premium. But the FL5/Type R like you said is just special!

One thing that's driving me crazy since switching - why did they put a USB-C port in the integra but not the civic..

A $100 shift knob, $200 center console overlay and a used $220 ITS module go a long way in making the car feel more premium. Plus the R+ mode cluster is a lot better.

I'm okay with the suspension set up honestly. But I do plan on changing the shift knob to the one that's on the type s, and getting the overland designs alcantara center console (did the same swap on the integra).

I just switched from the Type S shift knob to the Spoon. Can’t go wrong with either! Both are better then the shiny grey dildo looking knob that comes from factory lol haven’t seen the overland console yet tho!

I fail to see why anyone would want to continue the "debate" on these cars. We already went through this 3 years ago. They're both amazing and just cater to slightly different demographics. I'd take a Type R just as quick as my Type S- and similarly part of the reason I'm in my Type S is because I couldn't find a Type R without a markup when I was in the market. When the refresh hits next year, I'm considering re-evaluating if I should trade in my DE5 depending on whatever upgrades are introduced, and both the FL5 and DE5 are in the running. They're both amazing cars that each have their own identity while also being similar enough no one should ever have to justify their purchase decisions.

That said, Rallye Red is a great color on these cars, and probably one of if not the rarest.

Perfectly put. It's funny - having owned both platforms, and seeing all the online reviews and spec sheet readers online.. these cars are literally the same thing but different flavors for different folks/uses. I could interchangeably go from one to the other with no hesitation. I do miss the DE5 OEM exhaust.. I know people do resonator deletes on the FL5 but am leaning towards aftermarket to get some additional character.

Probably because Acura is ahead of Honda with respect to technology (and of course luxury). It’s a marketing thing. Typically, after a few years, technology from Acura trickles down to Honda while Acura is onto the next advancement.
