I think my rattle is coming from my mirror, but maybe it's just hiding this asshole.. I mean rattle.
I definitely have one behind the mirror that I need to do...
What I found and solved with my mirror rattle were very loose clips. Removing the clamshell plastic piece around the mirror base helped, but the asshole still persisted. I finally removed the second trim piece (to the headliner), found some white clips that are loosely fitted to the trim itself. I removed the clips, insulated with tape on the trim piece, reinstalled clips (they fit snugly, as they should), and reinstalled trim.

To further the repair, I insulated the clamshell where it clips together and boom! No more rattling asshole in the mirror area.

Although....I'm the asshole now, that I made this repair discovery and took no pics

I think this video was posted awhile back, but maybe they did some of the same things you did to get rid of the rattle around the mirror and surrounding trim pieces.

Damn, thats a fantastic video! Although, I approached the solution differently. The 'big trim piece' in the video, I removed those yellow clips and insulated them with simple electrical tape. They rattled around on the attachment points like crazy I found. The smaller clamshell, I used electrical tape to cushion the tabs that interlock to one another.

Time will tell, as my rattled get noticabley louder in warm temps/summer. Looks like this time next week, AZ may hit 100 degrees sooooooo I'l have some heat cycles on these fixes at that point!

Besides asshole wires, I will firmly state that weather is an asshole about 80% of the time.

This glovebox rattle has been driving me nuts for a while and I finally took the time to resolve it.

When the car vibrates, this wire was hitting a plastic piece causing my insane rattle. To resolve it, I wrapped part of the wire with a small strip of velcro. Then on the plastic part, I placed a small round velcro piece. That way it would hold steady.

My test drive confirmed the fix and I hope it helps others.
Thank you for sharing. I am also chasing down a glove box rattle since the car had 4 miles.....
I noticed that this blue thingy also wiggles a bit and makes noises. Does anyone know what is that?

No idea. But let me know if you solve your rattle! From 4 miles is brutal.

yep. since I bought the car.
I don't even know if it's the glovebox but my wife says it seems to be. So we will start with that.

That's an HVAC duct flap for redirecting air between two paths (ie feet vs face).
Ohhhh that makes sense. I was wonder what could possibly be there. Thanks!

I wrapped that wire. Noise seems to be reduced. Still happen from time to time. I also put a lot of soft CCF at various panel gaps/contact points. So not sure what was the main source of the squeak.
Thanks for sharing!

Hey OP! Some kind folks from Reddit shared your post link and it resolved the last rattle I have in my FL5, so I made this account just to thank you!

I am from Malaysia, my FL5 is an import from Japon, so RHD. The configuration is exactly the same, so the fix is the same too, it worked!

My problem was consistent rattle that happens as soon as the RPM hits 2500, and it will last until 3000, then it goes away/no longer noticeable beyond that. Yours finding fixed the issue!

What if I told you I’m the one that shared the link with you on Reddit?:)
I bet it feels like a brand new car after fixing it. Happy to have helped!

I realized that it was you that shared the link shortly after hahahah
Thank you again lol, I'm not sure how long of the rattle-free experience will last but this fix scratched that exact itch that's been bothering me for months!

Now I can finally enjoy the Spoon N1 muffler without the annoying tapping noise! :D
