Not sure how it was taken, I don't currently (fixing this in a few days) have an external camera. I'll note that I reported it stolen to Honda on Friday around 5pm and they did not take action with the police until Monday around 2pm. ZERO activity over the weekend, in fact their stolen car recovery department isn't even open on the weekends. I will be demanding a refund on my (whopping) $10.70 fee or disputing it because that is just BS.

No, and after seeing a bunch reported stolen in the last few weeks I was just starting to think about options. If I do replace this with another R I'll be doing OBD lock and immobilzer. Just got new floodlight/camera system to cover the driveway as an additional deterrent.

I'd really like another R but considering some other options that are less likely to be targeted by thieves.

You can add some easy things, like Sherlock marking, The Club steering bar, kill switch, GPS tracking (or at least an Airtag with the speaker removed - or both!)...

The more you put in security, the less chance your car will get stolen.

Nothing is 100 % safe, but with layers, thieves will have one thing after another to bypass.

I'd say tracking devices are worthless or low value at best - Honda called me yesterday to let me know they officially consider the car "untrackable".

OBD lock/relocate and an immobilizer system that blocks key cloning and similar vectors are the way to go along with making your parking location as secure/deterrent as possible.

Honda tracker subscription is valuable at times when it works. My parents neighbor had their RDX stolen at 3 am this morning and recovered hours later with help of the Acura app. All of the idiots on video. Happened in 6 minutes. They rolled up in two stolen accords. The cops got the car and arrested one of the kids.

I have a couple AirTags with no speakers, just incase.

This means they could not get a signal from the car - no surprise to me as I believe it was stolen by professionals who used electronic tools to steal the car as well as jam any potential tracers.

Having had cars stolen many times while it is usually a (much) bigger financial hit to get a payout it's not great to get back a thrashed car that insurance won't fix.

Interesting solution. The biggest problem would be getting wives to (cough cough) ahem…erect them. There’s no way! Looks awkward and they would risk chipping a nail. Winters? No. Just no.

So your wheels can potentially get damaged? Wholly unnecessary and impractical. There are enough deterrents available such that this shouldn't even be in the consideration set.

From what I understood, the commercial ones that cities and police use are heavy duty and not easily pried off.

However, the ones available to us are much easier to forcibly remove. I've seen several videos in the past.

I guess the question is if it is worth it to include in the multilayered approach. OBD port lock, kill switch, steering wheel lock, AirTag, wheel locks. All can be defeated. But taken together, maybe the potential thief would decide to pass because it’s too much time and effort? Or is it something they would laugh at and say “why even bother?”
