nice. I might DM you because I’m possibly moving down there.

i remember the PR guys killing it back in my early Subaru days. 2002-2004 or so. Gadiel tuning had a bunch of 🔥 cars back then.
Yeah I personally know him, I used to have a GD sti back in the day. Loved that thing, I did move to FL a while back and only go to PR just to visit.

That name (Gadiel) brings back so many memories. The days of built motors, rotated 35Rs, EWGs, and PPG dogboxes. I had a modified GD STi at the time and Gadiel tuned some very fast cars. I recall he tuned Big Valley's STi and it did incredibly well at Evo vs. WRX Street Wars at Englishtown.

@Spec C I might take the car to the track tomorrow to get some base numbers for you at the 1/4 to see how it does. Just for fun😂

Super clean! Really liked the EJ207! Too bad we never got it in the US. I had a stock location 30R with bolt ons. It made about 430whp on pump gas and ~500whp on leaded race fuel (C16), stock bottom end. Talk about a ton of fun on the street. That's a solid amount of power in a 3,300 lb sedan.

This is a friends STi that I helped him build and I tuned. Made 478whp on e85 on a dominator 3.0xtr drop in turbo.

Good stuff! I remember when the Blouch stock location "30Rs" came online. I guess that was around 2006. Before that it was primarily FP (20G, Red, Green, Black, White, etc.) or Garrett rotated. My biggest regret was not going rotated 30R with the .82 A/R. 😐

I get you dude! Back the it was all FP products mostly. Rotated is the way to go for me too but the newer drop ins are really impressive. The car I sold is making 608whp on a drop in Blouch 5.0XTR, so they have come a long way.

Apologies for contributing to leading this thread OT. It's like a bunch of washed up high school athletes (or current/former Subaru fanbois) reliving their glory days. 🤣

Back to regularly scheduled FL5 programming. ;)

I was really enjoying the convo ; Says a lot about everyone’s years of tuning/building experience. It’s great. Folks will certainly be watching your build threads.

Yeah its interesting to see what other people have tried as far as platforms go. I have had quite a few, in order of acquired.

1990 Izuzu trooper manual
2004 celica GT manual
2004 350z manual
1987 Gti Mk2 manual
2006 GD STI
2004 srt4
2013 focus st
2014 BRZ manual
2015 VA STI
2017 M2 Manual
2006 S2000
2022 Ram TRX
2005 SRT4
2023 Civic type R

As you can tell I like cheap cars😂. Never been about the exotics. And if it does not have a manual I don’t buy it except for the truck.

Hey all, looking at possibly grabbing an FL5 or DE5 here shortly and just had some questions for those who’ve driven/own these cars above 400+ whp.

I’m mainly looking to build a street car I can just have some fun with, without completely ruining the driving dynamics. Probably mostly do rolls from say 30-60 start speed.

I have other dct/awd cars so just looking for something fun and manual.

1. where do you think the limit is hp/tq wise where the car becomes unusable with regards to traction on street tires?

2. what would be some of the best shops to look at to do a build like this? I’d potentially just want to build the engine up front to have the peace of mind.

3. Any of you regret going as far as you did and enjoyed the car at fbo level more?

4. what sort of trap speeds or 60-1are you seeing with 400,450,500whp?

thanks
@Two Step Performance is tuned at just over 500hp, I dunno if they daily their R, but maybe they can chime in.
