Finally looking to pull the trigger on a set of Regamasters for the FL5 and I ran into a very small hiccup. What is the difference between the tarmac and normal versions? It looks like it is just the lip (or lack of, see below). Without the lip, I would imagine that the tarmac are more of a curb rash hazard. Do any of you have experience with these?

My current setup are Gram Lights 57DR in 18x9.5 +38. It looks like the Regamasters only come in 18x9.5 +38 in the tarmac version. Otherwise the closest offset I can get on the normal version is +45. Are there any more sizes I should be looking at that will maintain the aggressive stance of the +38 but won't risk rubbing?

As always, thanks!

diff lip face as you saw and tarmacs are available in diff offsets / are slightly heavier (.25 lb per wheel iirc)

I think they Spoon versions have some additional offset choices geared towards the FL5

Tarmac actually protect the rims a little better with tire. That’s the only difference between the two. As for the weight my 18X9.5 5X120 17.99lb

You have the same setup I’m looking at, black satin on CW. So those are the +38 tarmacs? And do you have more photos? The dish depth looks great on those.

So no rubbing at all with the +38? I've been worried to do anything but +45. Figment looked killer though.

I'm on coilovers and camber balljoints no rubbing. Can't vouche for stock set up though.

I’m on stock with +38 57DRs with absolutely no rubbing, not even close. That said, I haven’t dropped it all so I’m not sure if throwing Swifts or Eibachs on there would change that.

I have some Spoon Springs that I am going to install when I get wheels. Will probably go +45 just to be safe. Thinking the Gram Light 57NR.

I highly doubt they would rub even lowered. There are some running 18x11 on Swift on track no rubbing.

It may depend on your tire size and if you have the strut pins pulled for extra camber.

Im running 18x9.5 +38 on swift with 265/35 and its really flush in the front but no rubbing. Running a 275 may cause some slight rub.

What wheels are those? Can't tell from the angle but they look good.

The EVO II has a bit of a replica feel, while the Tarmac II stays true to the original aesthetic of the larger wheels (back when 16" or the Promada line were the only options that offered such a lip). FFWD 20 years, the real looks like the fake. In my case, due to rim size, there is no option, it shares the EVO II replica wheel lip. A catch 22, even if I win, I lose. 😅
