Anyone who knows anything about dealers, if one dealer knows allocation, should they all know? I literally know nothing of how these dealers work.
Its Fd up that there is zero consistency or people are lying.

Deposits make sense to me as I look at it as reserving my spot in line. Dealer took my deposit 3 months ago to assure me I would get the 2nd car they get. They’ve also been straight up the whole time saying they have no idea what allocation looks like. I agree with you on allocation and color and all that tho.
And I agree everyone’s experience and comfort with their dealer will be unique, so I can’t really say I blame you. What I would fear, is without something concrete, what prevents someone coming in, offering more than you, and stealing your spot? Since there is no actual car to sign documents on?

Good question. Dealer I’m working with has all my info in the computer. Agreed on price and number in line. Talked to a random sales lady the other day, who I have never talked to, pulled me up and quoted everything agreed on in April. I was calling to see if I could get it in writing and she pulled it right up and said it cannot change. So hopefully they’re truthful 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s why this thread is still going lol. People keep calling dealers and keep getting random ass answers.
Yeah I’ve talked to like 20+ dealers and nobody knows anything. Haven’t had to put a deposit down, but I have 3 dealers who have claimed I’m first on their list, once they have a VIN.

Man we should be friends. I can take one of those slots off your hands when you get a VIN 😂

That isn't entirely true.

The vehicle is in the system but there are no vehicles on order. So obviously no orders in transit either. This is why the colors were known... Because the vehicle populated in the "Honda Network"

That makes sense because... The last Honda order was two Mondays ago. In that allocation, It read that the next allocation will be '23 Honda Civics.

That means that the first chance to ever order '23 Honda Civics in the United States will be in the next allocation. It is important to know that for the last two allocations I haven't been able to order Civic hatchbacks. So at any given moment and time, you may not be able to order a car that is technically available.

I know everyone is super excited. So am I... But it isn't even easy getting a Civic Hatch Sport... Or a Honda Odyssey let alone a Type R.

I've been in sales at a Honda dealership for well over a decade. Our store typically gets one per model year except for '21 we received two. We are not a large Honda store but we are not small. In '21 they allowed us to pick the color we wanted on the Type R. I'm not sure what changed there and I don't know if that will be the case this time around. The years before that we received the color that Honda provided to us. We did not receive a Limited Edition.

That said... This is my first post here and I've been lurking. This place is awesome. I can tell how excited everyone is and I've learned a lot about the car from this place. Happy to stumble upon you guys.

Hello everyone, new member here. Just put down two MSRP waitlist deposits yesterday, #2 and #3! Saw the reveal and had to try to get my hands on one. I was wondering if we have any idea when the FL5 CTR might start arriving in the US? Maybe it will mirror when the FK8 CTR arrived back in 2017?

Edit: I just got word from my Toyota dealer that my '23 GR86 is going to be ready to be picked up in 2-3 weeks, so I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to wait for the CTR instead

Nice! Are you in the US and were you able to get them to get that in writing for you? How much was your deposit?

Yes I am in the US. I paid a $500 refundable deposit to secure the spot. Both dealers wrote my # in line, that the deposit is refundable, the car will be sold at MSRP, and sign the receipt.

For some reason I remember reading somewhere people thought this would be this last CTR. Maybe that was because it's only going to last 3 years? Do we think this will be the last CTR gen?

Also when is it going to land in the US?

Think they meant, last pure ICE Type R. And nobody is exactly sure beyond Fall… but some think around late September to November time frame.

I take it this is a Penske Honda dealer? Since they are the only dealers currently that I know that are not charging over MSRP.... But they will get your ass with add on BS which might come out to more than added market value:hmm: Mind letting us know which dealer "group" this was if you don't mind?
