Original Insight's and Civic hybrids were available with manual transmissions.

The problem for automakers is they can't easily program drivers of manuals (per close relative in the auto industry), so it is harder to meet EPA targets. On hybrid eCVT cars, there's a lot of pre-programmed computing between your right foot and actual acceleration.
What type of hybrid systems did those cars have? I think the issue is that the current technology Honda has for hybrids prevents them from chucking a manual transmission in since adding arbitrary "gears" to a motor would miss the whole point of having motors. At that point just make it behave like the current CVTs with paddle shifters.

Honda's original hybrids had an electric motor/generator sandwiched between the gas engine and transmission. New Toyota Tacoma's and Land Cruiser's reportedly use this configuration.

New Honda hybrids get good fuel economy. However I worked with folks claiming 45mpg in an original Civic hybrid and 65mpg in an original Insight. The Civic driver was a bit of a turtle, but the Insight driver kept up with left lane rush hour traffic. Both were manual transmission cars.

The Insight battery only lasted a couple weeks past the warranty. Honda wanted $8k to replace, but eventually relented and covered it. I doubt the car was worth $8k at that point.

I feel like this is all but a confirmation that there wont be a MY 2026. Super limited imports like this usually come near the end of production and are usually production overages. India is probably going to get a dozen or so CTRs for the ultra wealthy- seeing as how it will cost 15 years the average Indian salary after duty and taxes. We're talking probably $70k USD after taxes and destination.

Of course I could be wrong, but this screams of Honda just offloading whatever they got.

Only 10 of them being made? Lmao, why bother.
10 for UK... Which is probably close to how many UK got in 2025 so far 😂

I think they are saying a total of 40- I'm assuming that might be a total of 40 for all of Europe. Not sure what this spells for US market, this may leave US as the only holdout- but for how long?

I was already inclined to believe that 2025 was the last year, but this all but confirms it. The US might get a similar "special" edition, but it's clearly a wrap on the platform. At least we still have the ITS.

It's a shame because I personally prefer the CTR styling way above the ITS aside from the headlights. And the markup is going to go insane in the ITS once anyone gets any true signal the CTR is gone.
