This is exactly why I can’t wait for the ITS, same car, arguably will be a much better daily and will be much more readily available as being produced in NA.
If it looks similar to their renders then it will be a nice car.

Ok this I can get behind in a sense is well it is a bit of supply and demand but at the end of the day there still needs to be a buyer. It’s deff the last ICE type R. Now I think that they stopped taking orders in Japan since they already had 10k orders. It would make sense they get first dibs at a high volume due the the car being mad there. We are deff the biggest market for the car. So cut orders in Japan to increase the volume to US. That’s my thought. But who knows. My serious question is this. If it meant more production and lower prices, and Honda announced another plant outside the Japan one was gonna start producing the FL5 as well. Would this
A. Sway your decision on purchase in general?
B. Would you pay the higher price then to have the one from Japan rather than the other plant, say UK?

This question goes to all and not just mbaapk
This is a Longshot and not one im sure of. But given the Integra Type S will be produced at the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, I don't believe it's too unrealistic to think the FL5 could also be produced there. I think supplier parts may be a massive issue that would make this difficult, but the 2 cars are not vastly different.

It probably won't happen, but I know I've talked to other engineers in the plant who has shared the same thinking I have.

This thread inquires about FL5 owners with any disappointments in purchasing

THEN

People respond with their their thoughts as OWNERS of FL5‘s

THEN

People with no FL5 ownership respond to THIS thread with whatever angst they have over OTHER threads that compare Hondas to Porsches

How about this: Just don’t respond if you are NOT an FL5 owner AND you have a problem with statements made in OTHER threads.

I knew the Porsche comment would sting. I’ll but out. Sorry I’ll come back when I take delivery. 🤣

yeah, anyone who thinks a $44k Honda would be as good as a $70k+ Porsche (not an SUV Audi/Porsche but a real Porsche) is expecting a weeee bit too much. Please note, in this thread, with the exception of one mention about a roundabout, no one made that comment so keep what happens in other threads out of this one to avoid mucking it up:)

Only difference is rear wheel vs front wheel. Lol. Guess we’ll never know - just sayin’ the world isn’t flat.

Ironically, I had the same concern when I traded in a perfectly good SI for my FK8 - was the extra cost going to be worth it? Since I paid original MSRP for a two year old car? What about the worse gas mileage? The loss of a sunroof/moon roof, no blindside camera, etc. since this is a 2018 model.
To be fair, I was thrilled but wary - it took me a while to really feel at one with the Type R. And there was definitely a learning curve regarding parking and cornering - without curbing it. Let alone extracting the potential out of the chassis and engine.
But eventually all worked out, now I can't imagine driving anything else.
My point? It may be too early to tell for new FL5 owners.

one thing I'm worried about is the interior. Seats are so bright red, I wonder how easy for it to stain and fade after a couple years.

Yeah my thoughts the same. I also really like the alcantra steering wheel but enough people have told me it will be a nightmare to keep clean.

There is a cleaner for alcantara. Easy to apply and wipe down. Not nearly as bad as it is made out to be. Would love an alcantara wheel but don’t want to pull apart the new FL5.

Had it on my GT350 and after 4 years and 18,000 miles the wheel still look great and only needed to clean it once

With the right product and a little awareness an alcantara steering wheel can be really easy to clean and maintain. It's not as bad a most make it out to be

I don't really understand the alcantara appeal for a steering wheel. I like the look of a well seasoned leather steering wheel. My RSX wheel has a nice feel and look to it after years of use. Hopefully the Type R will be the same.

Alcantara offers higher levels of grip over a leather wheel.

I see. I guess I don't really track or race my cars enough to have grip issues on the steering wheel.
