Hi everyone,

First off, a big thank you for all the awesome info shared on this forum! After some research, I’ve decided to go with the Blitz Nur-Spec Custom exhaust for my FL5. Here’s why I’m excited about it:

1. It has three tips like the stock setup, and I’m opting for the stainless steel tips for a clean look.

2. It’s not too loud, hitting around 94 dB at full throttle. Plus, it’s Japan noise-compliant, so no need for a middle pipe.

3. The adjustable tips mean I can avoid that super protruding, Bosozoku-style look that’s common with other exhausts for this car. I’m probably just getting old, but I prefer a subtler style—think M3, AMG, or Supra vibes, where the muffler doesn’t stick out too far.

On another note, I’m planning to order from Blackhawkjapan.com since they have the exhaust at a solid price. However, the shipping was surprisingly affordable when I checked out, which caught my attention. For those who’ve dealt with international orders, can anyone clarify when tariffs or customs fees kick in? Is it at checkout or when the item hits customs? Any tips would be super appreciated.

Thanks again for all the help and great discussions here!

I agree with you and will be going the same route. I'll be selling my AWE Track soon.

I heard Black Hawk is quoting a certain shipping amount but then hitting people with additional charges due to tariffs. Don't know how true this is. Maybe one of the vendors here can get us in on a group buy type deal @MERAKIAUTOWORKS

they have a ton of stuff on their website but it's so frustrating you can't filter by car. there's like 500 pages of parts I'd have to look through to find what i want.

I'm sure pricing is accurate. You're going to get hit hard with taxes and tariffs though.

Importing products from Japan is difficult right now cause of that..

If additional fees in connection with the purchase are applicable you would not pay them at checkout, those fees are post-hoc. Fees would be assessed by the courier either before delivery or as a condition of delivery. The minimum threshold is $800; however, it's not clear how these companies are caring for import taxes. I've had three car related shipments in excess of $800 in the last 2 years and never paid any import fees. FWIW, this was before the recent changes to U.S. foreign trade policy.

Per blackhawkjapan I received the following I asked for the lip and that first to see how it was:

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us!

For a price including shipping on the site, just add the items to the cart and enter your address information, and you will get shipping quotes from multiple carriers.

The customs fees are not included in the payment that you pay to us and are charged separately by the shipping courier before the item is delivered to your location.

If your order total is under the $800 USD tax-free limit, you typically won’t be charged any additional customs fees. However, for orders over that amount, U.S. Customs may apply duties or tariffs based on the item classification and current trade policies.

According to recent updates, a 25% increase in tariffs may apply to all auto parts. Please note that customs duties and taxes are handled by the shipping courier on behalf of U.S. Customs.

We can declare it -30% on the invoice to assist you with customs. Please ensure to leave a note requesting a lower invoice declaration at the time of placing your order.

Both Blitz are order-made, and it will take about 1.5 months to manufacture them.

But this might sound silly or a little bit weird but I really don’t understand that business model that those companies have. You put a deposit in I know they will be top quality but we are on 2025, we have programs that deal with inventory management and all that. Is ok fro the people that pay that deposit and wait for 1 or 2 years for their part, but for me I don’t know I feel a little bit played by the brand. That said one of the many reasons I have my FL5 stock is because of that. Again I’m not trying to undermine anyone that does it but on my end that doesn’t fly because if I get tired of waiting or something I’ll be hit with a percentage of restock fee or something. But that’s the world we living with them always and since the pandemic everything got worst.

Lot of JDM companies are on a made to order basis and take a while to make it too.

Have some people pay thousands upfront and wait a year for some products. Manufacturers charge us up front as well.

Yeah I get It but at least isn’t my cup of tea every one can do it how it pleases that what we have kind of a free market. Just I personally don’t understand it but that is how the cookie crumbles.

Yes and I understand but at least I don’t see the value like I stated on the 90’s even early to mid 2000’s but if that is successful for them good I just don’t understand it. But again to each their own that’s their money and they can do how they want. Don’t get me wrong that’s how I think.

Thanks for sharing this. Good to see information provided directly from the source. I would be careful with what is in bold. It's not clear what if any impact this could have on filing a claim should the product arrive damaged.

It's not silly or weird at all. You're taking issue with handing over money and waiting an unknown period of time for a product. I get that. It's challenging for inventory management strategies to care for MTO items. They're taking a lean manufacturing approach that makes sense for the item being sold. Many other JDM outfits do the same thing. It doesn't make sense for them to hold excess inventory on items that will have an incredibly low STR. IMHO the wait is worth it for these one off pieces. You also never know when they will stop manufacturing it, so if you're interested it's best to get on it.
