So I did my first oil change on the fl5. Aside from stripping the cheap ass shield screw and having to drain it with semi attached….

I ALMOST FORGOT TO REJACK THE CAR CROM THE SIDE SO I CAN REMOVE THE FRONT JACK.

Holy fucking shit by the grace of God I caught myself.

what I did originally was just jack the car up from the front again and remove the jack stands. Completely forgetting oh shit it doesn’t fit on stock height

Had a mini panic attack thank god i came to my senses. I retightened the jack to stop it from lowering.

Learn from my mistake yall.

that would have been disastrous so fuckin

Admittedly this is the first time I had to do the two jack method.

fuck man

im sweating

time to get some ramps
Probably would have been better

I’m just thinking it’s easy to forget to leave the car lifted prior to removing the front jack

Scary that it didn’t cross my mind since I’m used to just lifting , remove jack stands, lower, and call it a day.

but yeah ramps would have saved me. I now see it’s the way to go. I’ll get some race ramps

Ramps, but if you have to remove them to put Jack stands in, you'll likely have the same failure mode.

Either two piece ramps or wheel cribs. You can make your own out of wood, or since we all paid a bunch of money for this car, what's another couple hundred for two piece ramps? 😄

Stay safe, and avoid working when tired or rushed

just jack up front, remove jack stands, put a 1x6 under each front wheel. this gives you enough clearance for most low-profile jacks. you can also just drive onto a couple 1x6 planks and no need to jack up the sides first.

Hope this thread saves some people from making my near costly mistake.

it’s easy to go through the motions and forget things. Other cars I’ve done oil change on it was no issue jacking from front and call it a day. I got lost going through the motions.

also those stupid Philips screws are terrible. So cheaply made will strip just by looking at it.

think I may have honda do my oil change next and let them deal with it lol. Have them replace the screws I stripped.

but I wanted to do an AMSOIL oil change myself.

Thanks for the input 👌

i put anti-seize on those screws and it seems to help a ton. although now instead of getting seized, they tend to fall out....lol

idk why people insist on changing the factory oil when the car only has 500 miles
