my understanding is that changing the oil yourself, or taking it to a non-Honda mechanic should not void the warranty.

I fully intend to change the oil myself, using Pennzoil Platinum Plus 0w-20, Fram ultra synthetic oil filter, and Votex quick drain valve

https://votex-us.com

better quality oil and parts, I know I'll do it right, cheaper, and faster (nearest dealership is 15-20 miles out, and I hate waiting)

I'll keep detailed records and receipts, and add a service record at the Honda website:

https://mygarage.honda.com/s/service-records

btw, my understanding is that the Honda OEM oil filter is a re-labeled cheapest Fram filter.
Add any maintenance you do to my garage on the Honda website. Anything the dealer does shows up there as well.

Just hope it doesn't get lost again. They switched from a different service not long ago and all my maintenance records on my Pilot did not transfer over.

Do you really have to wait till the 10K mark though? My understanding was you can take it into Honda sooner. Basically, they will just do one service free for MY25, regardless when you want to do it.

From what I have seen, it depends on the dealer. But 15% is when they are supposed to do it. I hit 15% after ~5800 miles.

When a dealer agrees to change your oil depends on the dealer. Some take a liberal posture while others are more conservative. The maintenance minder notification is triggered by a number of factors. For example, if you drive 30,000 miles in one year, the maintenance minder will trigger multiple times within a 12-month period. Conversely, if you drive 900 miles in a 12-month period, the maintenance minder notification, will in most cases, come on right around the 12-month mark.
