FL5 takes the crown... again. Waiting for N fan boys to give an excuse on why the N is better.
the CTR vs N thing is so played out and it goes both ways. The N is fantastic for the price, its not as good, its not as nice, its ugly but its an excellent car for 10k less than the R and it doesn’t overheat at the track so at the end of the day, is it a better track car? I would always pick the R over and I did but if I only had 35k to spend and I did not mind how ugly it looks its an excellent choice

I would argue people buying an R are expecting Porsche or AMG performance for 48k, where in reality performance is on par for sub 50k. I also think R guys are better drivers and pushing their cars WAY harder than N drivers. If we had an oil cooler that was double the size I think overheating would be much better.

I think the cooling issues go beyond just a bigger oil cooler, so much that no one has really figured it out and people still throwing parts at it. I think its just engine design making it more difficult. It will be figured out and really for 99% of us its fine the way it is currently, unless its a very hot day, then probably not hard to overheat ( few track days i have done was in the low 80s and with my skill level I have not overheated it yet but temps were highish so I can see it happening).
The type R are better drivers and push more I dunno, I have no data on that but based on what I see around there is a lot of garage queen type Rs, dunno what happens with the N people.

Lets be honest if someone wants performance under 50k then a camaro ss 1LE is the answer every time. However its a bunker in there, 4 door car with performance you are limited and nothing really high performance at this price but I we agree that for what you get at 45k is great, I know a lot say the type R is expensive but i think you get a lot of good stuff for this price, I dont think its overpriced at all

I have my doubts, but I wouldn't plant a flag that a stock FL5 will easily overheat on track. Those fellas from New Zealand were up on this before anyone else, publicly anyway. I don't track my FL5 so the status of whether the car overheats and under which conditions doesn't really matter to me.

Well said. It's objectively ugly and you have to say you drive a Hyundai. Having said that....hell of a car for the price. I looked at one and just couldn't live with the poor interior quality and materials.

I think people have and its been discussed/on video. That said I think it happens way less than people talk about it. I think you either have to be a very fast driver or be in really hot conditions. I haven’t overheated it but just few colder days, however I did do 10 minutes on a 90 degree day, autocross (not cones but small track) and the oil certainly was pretty hot. At least its not as bad as the gr corollas rear diff.

I think the only advantage the N has is the DCT, that would be the only way I would get one (dct also comes with sunroof I think) which at that point would compete with a GTI. I think people who want a manual “fun” car but don’t want to pay Type R prices should really only look at an SI or 86/brz

disagree because they are totally different cars. 4 door with proper rear seats vs a small 2 door car. But yes if I did not need or want the extra space the 86/brz will be a better and more fun car (but that could even be said about comparing it to an R)

Not saying I'm not glad the N exists. I am. It's a sweet car and hits an amazing price point.

But.....

Every time I see one, the driver has a scowl on his face. Literally every time. I don't think the ownership experience is a happy one.

Honda Odyssey owners seem to be the happiest folks especially after seeking inspiration from latest Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Lol.

Haha. I secretly want a decked out Odyssey for road trips.

To be fair, revisiting my earlier comment - I probably don’t have a smile on my face when I’m driving the CTR on a rough road when all I can hear is TYRE ROAAAAAR
