The fake engine sound has kinda grown on me. It's still annoying in first gear, but when it's subtle enough it doesn't sound bad.

I don't know if it's the case on the FL5, but I know a lot of the other fake engine sounds are actually just piped in from the engine and made louder. If that's the case with the FL5, I don't mind it nearly as much since it's at least a form of feedback.

I don’t think there is any actual “pumped-in” sound from the car. I’m convinced it’s ALL fake…unless there’s a tiny cow in there with a microphone.

On the fl5 it seems like a track that just plays out of the speakers. Frankly, no engine in the world sounds that way. And it doesn’t sound good at all

It’s this super synthetic sound. Like a mix between an ice motor, 600cc bike and ev all in one.

Yeah, even the ELS system in my ‘08 RDX sounds way better than the FL5.

Yeah, I do miss the 3D ELS system in the Type S. This bose is kinda crap, but not why I got the car really :)

OMG....so THE most disappointing thing about the Type R in the 2 weeks I've owned it was the HORRID, digital fake engine noise they pipe in when in +R mode...WHY?! WHY???!!! The engine sounds SOOOO good as it is! Why ruin that?! Like the newer ADX....sounds like a dying cow in sport mode! No, really. lol.

So yesterday I pulled the glove box, side panel, air vent (partially) and lower trim and....PRESTO! No more fake noise and defeated the ANC as well.

BOSE system still sounds lame vs the TLX/RDX ELS studio surround system, but I'll fix that, maybe. I never did add the amp/sub/capacitor to the TLX because it was more about ENGINE sound vs radio. So we'll see....no extra weight!! :)

Anyway, sound so much better and a MUST DO mod!
Yup.

Disconnecting the fake noise generator was my first mod as well.
I didn't even have the car long enough to hear it before I found out it was a thing, and said, "Nope. Not in my car".
As soon as I found out it was "a thing", I learned, from Project BluRay on YT, how to disconnect it.
Never had the DISpleasure of having to hear that mess.

Cheers.

Yeah, I had a ADX loaner and put it in Sport mode....sounded like a dying cow...really. So put it back into comfort so it sounded like a regular car again! LOL
We just bought an ADX, and I didn't know about the sound when test driving it, i just put it in Sport mode, floored it, and was like "Oh my god!"

We got an Advance so it'll have the Individual mode, engine sound is getting set to Comfort. 😄
