Muscle memory requires engaging in the activity. You can't learn how to drive a manual on YouTube 😂
Durrrr... You can absolutely learn the proper technique from YouTube and then practice on the actual car to get the muscle memory. There is a specific placement of your hand in each gear that nearly eliminates the chance of shifting into the wrong gear.

Thanks. Figured this was the case.

I just felt like such a jack ass missing that shift lol need to remind myself it’s a Honda and I’m not the only one to ever do this
Thought of you today. You still would have room to redline even at 83 mph on a stock fl5 no mods. You’re good. You can breathe

I was just testing if there were any auto rev match snobs in here 😅
The older I get the slower I shift. Its just much smother that way.

Ha! I don’t care what snobs think. Auto rev match is quicker and more consistent than I could ever be. 😅 For street use, it’s a great convenience feature. On the track or “other times,” where I’m testing my skill, I’d turn it off.

I don't like how it auto rev matches when I'm coasting around town and turning a corner though which is why I turn mine off.

I can see how in some cases it can be awkward. Maybe you’re talking about a specific situation, but you don’t down-shift and leave it in gear when going around a corner?

I do - what I'm saying is I don't necessarily need that rev match when I downshift to go around a corner just putzing around town.

wont be the last time. Also dont worry about it much, its pretty hard to do (blow it up) unless you jump multiple gears at highway speeds. Manual since 1998, and I have done this so many fucking times lol The really bad ones you will catch before you splode it

It's always a risk. People who have actually done serious damage to their cars ALL thought they were master manual drivers as well, and I'm of the mind that it happens more often than people think.

I'm not sure about Honda dealers; anytime I've expected anything from them I've been disappointed. But from my Porsche days, you can ask the dealer to run a "DME report". I think that terminology is specific to the Bosch ECU in VAG products, but it looks a little something like this:

11th Gen Honda Civic Fourth to third shift, 75ish MPH 1735563864732-ak

It is a 100% necessary procedure when buying any used Porsche manual. Basically, anything over a range 3 is sketch, range 5 and 6 are pretty much just walk away. Perhaps there is a Honda equivalent.

There is one sure way to eliminate the risk.

what do the "ranges" mean? Is that revs over the rev limit?

edit: nevermind. i looked it up.

afaik honda only records overspeed events over the rev limit but maybe a Honda tech can chime in
