Anyone know if there are any front license plate mount options that don’t require drilling through the front bumper? I haven’t seen any photos of a U.S. spec FL5 Type R with a front plate.

If it’s anything like the 22 Si, there are actually some mounting spots built into the lower grill, so it wouldn’t be drilled through the bumper, just the lower grill and in a specific spot. Shouldn’t be too bad unless you’re really anti any drilling at all…

I was going to either give Sly Brackets a try or attempt to design my own. If I designed my own, I could get it made at SendCutSend or have a friend 3d print it.

I was looking into the Sly Brackets as well. Not quite sure how I feel about them just yet, but it's still better than drilling. I was thinking of modeling one up in Solidworks, but I don't have enough information about mounting points at the moment.

Dunno as I haven’t seen the car in person yet. Good thought and I’ll research it

i received a reply from someone who just picked one up and so far no sighting on where a spot would be up front for a tow hook to mount a license plate

Mine came with a tow hook in the glovebox but I have been unable to find any location for it on the front. The rear diffuser has a removable section on the driver's side which is likely the hook spot.

Trying something that may work. It technically is 'attached' to the vehicle. It's a static window sticker of the plate. Cost $12 at Vista Print. Worth a try. Will keep the real plate in the car and see how this goes.

Better to go without it altogether imo.

It takes a cop to really look at it to notice it has no front plate, but not with that in the window.

It's a static-cling sticker. Like you'd get at an oil change shop reminder sticker.
Oh MY BAD!! Apologies, I missed the "OF THE PLATE" part LMAO I thought you somehow double sided static clung the actual plate to the window.

Def curious as to how this goes!

Is there any way to zip tie it to the lower grill, or a)will that cover up too much of the rad. b)would that potential mess up the grill long run?

In BC that’s illegal as hell. The plate needs to be mounted on the front bumper of the vehicle. I dunno about Ontario but that’s asking to be pulled over.
