How the hell do I get this hose clamp off?

11th Gen Honda Civic Hose Clamp Question 289

It's not a normal head screw type.

The heads on these are designed to shear once they reach the specified torque when it's installed at the factory. I used needle nose pliers to remove mine and replaced it with a normal one when installing my intake. Bit of a pain in the ass, if you have a dremel handy you could probably dremel out a slot.

They are one-time-use where the head sheers off when torquing down to certain point. You can either Dremel a slot out and use a flat head and back it off the worm drive, cut or pry it off completely but ensuring you dont damage the hose itself. Then replace with normal worm drive hose clamp or an ear style/crimp style hose clamp (although the latter is also a one-time-use).

Thank you guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'm on to the MY 26 this time around, last time was MY 24 and I messed that one up taking it off.

I'm thinking I can back it out a little at the back side sticking out, the thread itself. Then back it out more from there from the front.

Thank you community!

If you have a dremel, you can cut a knotch to fit a flat head screwdriver.

I just used regular pliers to do the same.

I tried that and ended up pinching my fingers. 😂

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'd never heard of this type of break away screw head.
