My car is sitting because I don't have any title to purchase tags. My 45 day tag has expired. Honda Credit doesn't give you much information on this kind of thing. :(

You can get another temporary tag (or an extension on your temp tag), I’m pretty sure. I can’t imagine you’re the only person to deal with this sort of thing, so there has to be an alternate solution.

To answer your original question, it depends on your state and your finance company. It usually takes 2-6 weeks depending on both, but when I paid off my last car I had it in hand in less than a week.

That said, not sure I understand the situation, is the car new? If so didn't your dealer process all that paperwork for you as part of the transaction?

It varies state by state, but after I've purchased a new car from the dealer I've normally received new plates and tags with registration from the DMV within 3-4 weeks.

Title after paying off the car was normally received about 4 weeks after.

Wait…are you the same dude on Reddit who let their temp plates expire like 2-3 months ago?🤣

(You posted pics of the car sitting in the garage and I noticed the temp plates had already expired. We had a short chat about it.)

If it is financed through Honda they should issue you a temp tag !

I bought my car in Ohio and I'm waiting for the title. I feel the pain, I'll plead stupid if I catch some heat but I haven't had any problems

I paid the car off back on 3-27, the temp tag has run out last week as I've been waiting on the title to show up so I can get my plates.

Yes, new car, dealer required financing to give me the MSRP price). I paid the car off first payment and now waiting on a title so I can get plates and drive the car again. The tags ran out last week.

Maybe your state is different, but for CA you register for plates when you buy or finance the car, you get dealer plates and registration. Plates take like 2-4 weeks even if financed. I think it goes to the dealer first and they mail forward it to you, so call them. When you pay off the car, it takes about 4 weeks for title to come in the mail, but it's just the registration part. Your registration from financed purchase would be still valid and you don't get new tags.

Maybe other states are different.

Well…that other dude…it was basically his fault and he knew it. Glad you’re not him, but frustrating for you nonetheless. You’ll get it sorted. Just sucks it is taking so long.
