I've got a '22 Si. Installed PRL HVI, then did the Hondata CARB 240 a week later. Drove well for a few weeks, then started getting a bogging under heavy acceleration. Felt like I was hitting a rev limiter. Did some data logging and my air:fuel shot up to 29:1. Tuned the car back to stock, drove around with just the intake, and the problem was gone. Anybody have this issue?
I'm wondering if there's an underlying problem with the fuel system that is being highlighted by the tuning, or are these mods incompatible for some reason...and if I have to pick, do I keep the HVI and leave the car untuned, or do I get rid of the HVI and tune the car?

Personally, I would pick the tune (increased hp) over the hvi (increased noise).
That's what I'm thinking. For now it's stock tune with airbox. I have an appointment at the dealership Monday because my drivers seat feels loose. I also posted to the Hondata forum to see if somebody has a solution, because they should work together. If I have to choose, I'm going to put the PRL Stage 1 intake (my first mod before the HVI got CARB cert.) back in, put the tune back on, data log, and see if it fixes the issue.

Why do you think it is the prl hvi and tune combo is the problem? PRL is a reputable company, I doubt their intake is the problem, unless the maf housing warped, cast incorrectly, or leaking. As long as any intake has the OEM sized maf housing and you have no leaks, it should not matter. 29:1 ratio is normal if you let go of the throttle and coast while in gear. If it happens during acceleration, something is broken, clogged, loose connection or not installed/programmed correctly. If it was the combo, i feel like the problem would have shown up earlier, not so much a week later.

Check your intake install and try a reflash maybe with a different base tune.

I'm assuming it's the combo because the car runs fine with just the HVI. They SHOULD work together, so I don't know if the combo is just shining light on a fuel system issue. That's why I'm looking for suggestions. I'll double check all the connections on the intake.

I'm new to modifying modern forced induction cars. I had a NA B-series back in the day and could do just about anything on that car.

Here's the latest. I've been getting suggestions from people in the Hondata forums.

PRL HVI plus tune = bogging
PRL HVI with traction control off plus tune = bogging
Stock airbox plus tune = bogging
Stock airbox with traction control off plus tune = bogging
PRL HVI with no tune = no bogging

Leads me to believe that it's a problem with the CARB tune.

Try another tune then and see if that makes a difference.

I see the non-CARB tunes in the list, but I was told by a site admin on the Hondata site that it won't work with the CARB Flashpro. I want to say I've tried it but I can't be certain.
I also noticed that it has a few intakes listed but the PRL HVI isn't one of them, and if I pick anything other than stock, it will not show a compatible tune.

Yeah, if you have the CARB FP, you can't load non-CARB tunes on it. You'll get an error message. I tried awhile back, and I recall that's what happened. You can always plug yours into your computer to verify, though.
