Why wouldn't the prl flex fuel work with the hondata e85 tune? I'm not understanding the problem.
On the FL5 the way the PRL connects to the oem sensors is not recognized by the software. You have to use the unreleased flex fuel kit from Hondata.

So hondata is coming out with a flex fuel kit that will be better suited for the pcm/sensors and their tune? I should return the prl flex fuel kit?

The PRL FL5 system will not work with Hondata as of now. They released the system early assuming it was going to be identical to the FK8. Maybe in the future but for now it is uncertain.

Damn, okay. Thanks for the heads up. I'll just wait to install the prl flex fuel kit and just run pump 93 gas for now with the upgraded hondata fuel kit.

You can still tune for ethanol but won’t be able to do flex fuel. So you will have to switch maps.

And no problem happy to help.

Not to be a pain but does anyone know if hondata is working on figuring a tune out that will work with prl flex fuel kit? I just don't want to keep having to change tunes with every fill up that has different ethanol concentrate.

It's not that they can't figure it out, it's that they will not do it "the old way" because that was technically not emissions compliant. The new way (CANBUS) does not violate any emissions regulations and Hondata has stated it is the only way they are moving forward with flex fuel on new applications. If you have a PRL flex fuel kit in your FL5, Hondata has specifically stated that they will not be supporting it.

Correct the new unit from Hondata will include the CANBUS system to integrate with the oem ecu which the PRL system does not have.

Sorry for the delay in some responses on some DM’s. I was out of town for my graduation and was completely disconnected from work.

Here is a little snapshot of what is coming for testing.

Huge shout out to @Two Step Performance for the help in acquiring the full race fuel pump. I try my best and spend a lot of my own money for testing and providing you guys the data to be able to make your own choices while having as much information as possible to help you in your upgrade path.

Fuel line comparison:

Pump connection for the fuel line on the pump side OEM (right)vs Full Race(left)

And now the biggest difference:

On the fuel rail side Stock line modded (top) vs full race (bottom).

The difference is absolutely on another level.

A little chart comparing fuel flow for the pump.

Well to be fair just a flash with a tune will make more power than that on the FL5. That is how much more efficient this engine is.

I know right! I'm so pumped to get it tuned. Reached out to drob and he stated the same thing. Said he'll crack the ECU for me. Had hernia surgery three weeks ago so I had to take off of work for two weeks. Waiting for my checks to go back to normal then I'll be getting it cracked and starting to get things together on this. I'd love to test the unreleased by the way. ;)
