So I drove for two hours today, one hour there, one hour back, to a little place in Wooster, Ohio, Germaine Honda, that sells stuff relatively inexpensive compared to some. I used to go there years ago to get parts for my old civics. Once every six months, I’d take a hike out there.

So I went to pick up the suede steering wheel and leather type R shift knob. And of course, the whole way there and back the ride was absolutely fantastic with the absolutely mind blowing throttle control controller still can’t get over a hoe. Much better than the car is with that thing in.

but regardless, the install was pretty easy as long as you pull up the trim panel, cut the zip tie, and then manipulate everything, put the new knob in, rezipped tied the shifter boot and wrapped it with some electrical tape so nothing sharp poked through.

and it looks fantastic!

Also got the acuity shifter and longer rod today. I’ll wait till the weather clears up a little bit to put that in.

That’s the hack job of an install. On Germaine’s website (College Hills Honda) the instructions for installing the knob are posted, and cutting/hacking aren’t one of the steps 😃

Ah. Yeah. I didn’t realize that the zip tie would do that, so I went back in cut it and then wrapped some tape around it. So it’s all good now.

actually went exactly as it was supposed to. Not sure what you’re talking about a hack job lol but it was done exactly as it was meant to be done. And you actually have to do it this way because you cannot remove the plastic fitting without taking it all apart.
But you’re more than welcome to do it your way

This didn't work for me, sadly. I was able to unscrew the OE knob without dropping the boot itself, but the new knob (same as op) wouldn't align correctly, so ultimately I had to drop the boot -- it was easier with the knob out of the way, though.

I'm looking at getting a new boot regardless, so I'll end up pulling the trim.

Does the acuity shifter have a boot at all? I've seen so many people running it like how you are
You have the option of running the oem boot or can leave it out. I chose to use the boot, but am open to the idea of leaving it open for racecar feel. @chuck76, what plate is that in place of the boot? It looks good 👍
