Hey guys, looking for real-world reliability reviews on FL5 catted downpipes.

I’m less worried about the 5hp difference between brands and more worried about reliability and not having to replace something in 2-3 years. Who has high mileage on their setup? Any failed cats or recurring CEL issues I should be aware of before I buy?

It seems like the TSP is the standard, but want to know if anyone has seen failures of the CAT after 2-3 years or feedback from FK8 experiences?

For what it's worth, I have two friends with the Type S, both running a TSP downpipe for about a year, both on a custom tune and they both have recurring CEL. TSP agreed to replace them. I don't believe either has received theirs after 2 months.

I want to believe the pops and bangs destroy the O2 sensor. But that is just a hunch,I have no data to back that up. Idk how common this is or the true cause, just concerning to me that the only two guys I know with the DP have issues

I have roughly 7000 miles and roughly 14 track/time attack events on my TSP dp.

I have experienced maybe 2 CEL's but cleared them and it's been fine. One of these was running it on the stock tune.

Also probably worth noting I run the hard lagged heat shields on both the turbo and dp, which should put more thermal stress on the cat.

I run the pops and bangs as well.

I had 18-19 years on the Cobb high flow catted down pipe on my STi… never an issue. Car was tuned most of its life with lots of track mileage. I think as long as it’s a quality part should hardly be an issue.

I have about 9k miles on my TSP downpipe without any issues. The engine is tuned, but I do not have the pops and bangs.

Have yet to install my TSP DP on the FL5, but my PRL DP on my SI had 15k miles without a CEL.

Put 7000 miles on my first TSP dp and toward the end it was throwing a CEL 200ish miles after clearing every time. I took it off and it appeared the cat itself had been dislodged and damaged on the perimeter when viewing it from inside. Stock DE5 calibration and I typically use sport+ only on spirited drives. I'm at about 10800 miles now and it's been fine so far on my second dp they sent me. I did just recently find that I have spark plug corrosion on cylinder #4 (classic Fk8 problem) which caused a misfire and ruined the spark plug, so that may have contributed but who knows as that just popped up a few weeks ago.
