Official Wheel Fitment Thread for 11th Gen FL5 Civic Type R

To be determined. Many of us have strong opinions and conflicting views. I would love to find an aftermarket wheel/tire setup that matches the factory feel with a slightly more aggressive offset. I don't know what the answer is but I've been researching for years now. I tried 18x9.5 +45 with some good summer tires and was disappointed.

I think the consensus is if you go to 18" wheels you NEED to run aggressive 200TW tires to match the feel of the factory 19" setup. Anything less will increase comfort at the cost of handling. If you go with 19" wheels you can go a little more aggressive with the offset but anything beyond +45 is probably too much torque steer.

Thank you for the breakdown! I appreciate the info. For me I have the stock Michelin tires (Im using all seasons right now for winter) so I need any wheels I get to fit the 265/30ZR-19 size. Ideally anything I get will be close to the +60 mm offset. It's good to know I have a little bit of play too.

I might reach out to blackhawkjapan or volk with some questions and think about making a decision next week.

Drove 250 miles on the RT615s they are loud at first but not bad. Fine for street if you have an exhaust it'll drown out the road noise anyway. But this Offset/tire/ride height combo leaves decent wheel gap that doesn't look great.

This offset/tire/ride height combo fills out the fender nicely. Certainly isn't super low.

They both look great to me Which is more flush? +38 or +45? Do+ 38 poke? I have a pro kit as well with the TC4 +45 wheels and still undecided whether I want to lower it as the wheels might be tucked in too much, currently it looks flush to me without lowered but to your point there's a nice wheel gap there.

+45 are flush at stock height and look great. If you lower it id consider a 275 tire depending on which you go with to fill out the wheel arch. +38 offset at stock height looks terrible, so if you go +38 you'll want to lower it, with pro kit id go with 275s depending on the tire and your preference to fill out the wheel arch. But lower suspension height like sportlines you can go 265 and looks good.

265/35R18 is about the same size as 265/30R19 (stock), which is 643 mm diameter. 275/35R18 is 650 mm diameter, so you're lifting the car by 3.5 mm.

Thanks for the information. I don't mind the slight increase in height but want to make sure it won't rub with the wider tires. Would rather on perform any work to the fender.

Does anyone know if you can run on an FL5 18x9.5 +36 with 275/40 tires on stock height? Would it cause any rubbing?

Installed my TE37SL last week. Answers below for those who want to know about suspensions and specs.

Wheels and tires: 18x9.5 +38 with DWS06+ 265/35/18 tires.

Suspension: Swift springs 1” dropped all around. Pulled front strut pins. Stock everything. Alignment -1.7 Front -2 Rear.

Note, DWS06+ runs a bit wide. Depending on your tires brand. You might be able to get away with 275. For this setup I corner hard etc and no rubs. I think I can fit 275 in the rear easy, the front might be a bit pushing it. No need to pull the front strut pins if you’re planning to run this setup. However, I got ZE40 in GOD specs coming so I went ahead and pull the pins to fit those when they arrive next year. Probably going to stick with 265/35 for my ZE40 as well.

I’m being descriptive because there are many opinions out there that made me unsure. some say you can run 275, some say no need to pull pins etc. This post is for you if you’re looking for a direct answer.

That front is with front pins pulled already? I didnt think it will have a poke at those wheel specs... Interesting. Thanks for the info. Now I am second guessing which specs to get lol
