Thank you. Just trying to learn. I have done numerous take days but none in a front drive car. I have a few track days coming up and your accident has made me a little gun shy. It has made me rethink how transferable my other track experience is to FWD and specifically to the FL5. Thank you for sharing your experience and being so open. I know that I will be better off because of you and so will many others.
The "save the car" reaction that I had was backwards from what it should have been. A good friend of mine, and a brilliant racecar driver said, "When racing we often go to 11/10 or even 12/10, what separates the good drivers from the great drivers is those that have the skill and ability to dial it back to 10/10." He didn't beat me up about my mistake, but offered advice on how it could have been saved instead.

I've been pleasantly surprised by the number of people giving good feedback and offering sound advice. It helps us all, and is ultimately the point of the channel I made. Every once in a while we all have to eat the humble pie, and humble pie is always made of experience, and nobody ever said that experience tasted good!

Don't have any fear out there, the car plants itself exceptionally well. Yes, +R is bouncy in some spots, but as long as your foot is on the gas, you're going to be just fine!

Track Insurance Update:

I checked my loan with American Honda Finance this morning, and the car has been paid off! Looks like I'll be getting a check from Honda as well for the amount over what I owed on the car! I also was compensated $975 for my towing expense to have the car removed from the track and stored at a different location (The track only gave me a week to have the car removed). At this point it would seem that the insurance process has been concluded!

Glad you can close this chapter out in relief. You seem like a resilient person, how are you holding up? Mentally, physically, emotionally?

The bruises are pretty much gone at this point! The nerve pain in my neck is almost completely gone (physical therapy really helped). Mentally, I'm good to go, but that will likely be put to the test next time I'm out at the track! I'm currently looking at a 3 day event at VIR during Memorial Day weekend, though I'm not sure what I'll be driving at that point. My friend Chris has volunteered to ride with me all weekend! He's an instructor with NASA, and wants to help me get back on the horse, and work on a few techniques!

Glad to hear you’re much better and the insurance claim has been closed.

Only thing that makes me a bit nervous is the 3 day event. I was participating in a 3 day when I wrecked. Tracking wears you out!

When I was new to tracking I would run every session in the day all the way to the last one on Sunday. I don't do that anymore. I should have been more conscious of how I was feeling, but hey, shoulda woulda coulda....didn't. I threw her in the ditch on the second to last session telling myself that I was going home right after the session ended.

I'll certainly be more cognizant this time around!

Don’t you have the option to choose the days? I’ve only been to 2-day events and there’s an option at registration. Unless it’s a time trial event where day 1 sets up the lineup for day 2.

For this specific event the only option is for 3 days. I don't plan on running every session.

I’m glad you went to physical therapy, told you it would do wonders.

Time to get back on the saddle my friend!
