I guess my internal argument is, “can I live with this small chip”, knowing that it’s a brand new car. Not much I can do about it 😔

Cars get damaged at shops. Has happened to me numerous times. The space is tight, you have people leaning into the car, people watching, tools going about, etc. It's a risk always when we take a car to the shop.

Did the shops fix the damaged they caused?

No, they usually don't. This was recent exanple at Pep Boys changing my tires in my Accord 2.0T 6 speed. They lifted it incorrectly.

Agree. I've had some issues with damage in the past at shops. It's a mixed bag as to whether they cop to it and make it right. I've taken measures over the years to mitigate the risk.
