I switched to using the MDR Vented Engine Splash guard. It has the hardware to either keep using the quarter turn fasteners or change it up to all screws and I went with the screws since its more secure.

Key feature is that there are hatches for the oil plug and filter so you do not have to remove the shield at all.

One of the nice things about this forum is the community, passion, and collective information shared. I am impressed with the stock FL5 but had a concern last Summer seeing various temps rise where it seemed like the FL5 could really use help to shed heat more effectively. I prefer to do upgrades in incremental steps to see if expectations are headed in the right direction before considering other upgrades.

My first step was to find a replacement for the stock intercooler and am awaiting delivery. I then stumbled across this particular post on the forum:

Take my money from someone that is a forum member, tracks their FL5, understands the heat buildup situation, and is offering solutions. I ordered the cooling plate and it arrived today. I am impressed with it and look forward to installing. Here are two PICs of both sides of the cooling plate after removing the protective film (bottom and then top side view):

WOT cooling tray and I swapped out WOT's Allen head fasteners for flange head bolts.
I normally won't let other mechanics touch my car. Neighbor had the dealer change oil in his Hellcat and the tray blew off on the highway. The dealer made it good, but a pain.

Actually a JIS screwdriver is what’s needed. Vessels are just great to have all around

I had no idea these screw drivers existed, just purchased a set. I like that the tip of the screwdriver has ridges that bite into the screw hopefully avoiding striping out the screws when removing the lower engine cover.

Just a FYI.
One thing I see often is rounded Philip heads on the screws. It's a P3 screw. A P2 will work some of the time but can easily round out the slot.

Its a JIS #3 screw.

A philips driver is the wrong tool altogether.
