Scratches on steering wheel

I have a ‘25 CTR. Owned it for a year. Recently I’ve noticed several thin scratches on the leather steering wheel.

See the attached picture.

I am pretty sure I didn’t cause them (have had several cars with leather wheels and no issues).

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you deal with it?

Pretty sure the dealer will say it’s my fault!

You can try leather conditioner or cleaner to help it, but it wont get rid of it completely. The dealer will probably not do anything about it, its a wear and tear item. More than likely you you brushed up on it by accident.

If you wear shorts or pants with raised buttons on the pockets that's likely what is causing the scratches. The good news is your hands will eventually wear these down to the point that you don't see them anymore.

A couple weeks after I got my car I noticed these and realized I was causing them myself. It's a difficult car to get into without bumping the steering wheel with your body!

I have the same, maybe from a belt buckle.
I've repaired leather scratches before with superglue and finger pressure over wax paper. I haven't done this to the steering wheel yet. It hasn't annoyed me enough.

Didn’t think getting into the car might have caused it. Will see if I hit the wheel next time. There’s also a similar scratch at the top of the wheel (which I smoothed out with leather conditioner and a microfibre cloth).

The material they made the stock steering wheel out of feels good but definitely isn’t very durable. I ended up swapping my steering wheel for the ITS wheel. I liked the look and feel of it, the perforations definitely helped reduce hand sweat, AND the material is much more durable. I never had any problems with scratches or chatter marks with the ITS wheel.

same thing happened to my 18 Accord Sport wheel. Belt, key, buckle, bag, finger nail etc. could have caused it. Things could be worse.

Well, I haven’t owned my CTR since late May (got an S2000), but the ITS steering wheel material is definitely tougher, which makes sense. They wouldn’t be able to put perforations in it if it’s too soft (because it would stretch further and potentially tear). I had it on my car for about 1.5 years iirc. No problems.

my fingernails get caught on it sometimes and scratches it. Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP is like magic. makes it like new again. on a warm/hot day, rub some on and it will make it disappear in about 30 minutes. It absorbs into the leather and conditions it.

sounds crazy, but it does work on minor scratches like that.
