From all of these posts, the biggest thing I've learned is that having the car out of sight is the best deterrent. If the thief doesn't know the car exists, they're less likely to go look for it. There's definitely cases where it can be taken from a garage, but still way less likely than having it towed from your driveway.

I figure if the FL5 isn't your daily, and you have to park it outside in a less than safe neighborhood, maybe it's a good idea to keep it in storage somewhere.

Just about every single one that I’m aware of, shared by car group/forum, the stolen car was not garaged.
It really sucks to own a theft magnet. Can’t park it anywhere and walk away without a single thought of it getting stolen.

1. Faraday cage. Keep the keys inside. Keep one at home. Keep another one in your suitcase if you take the car on road trips for when the car is parked. They're $10 on Amazon. Nobody will be copying your key.

2. OBD2 lock. Nobody will be reprogramming their own key to your car.

3. Advanced Wheel Locks. Not unbeatable, but an order of magnitude more effective than crappy OEM wheel locks.

It's all about adding layers of hassle to deter the theft. Nothing is perfect however; if someone really wants your car they will steal it with a trailer.

This is just a life lesson in general but anyone that has or intends to have nice cars needs to have a home with a garage to put them in.

Actually unfortunately there's plenty of cases of them ramming or breaking the garage door to get the car as well. Ive seen on the Facebook groups.

Aside from the obvious deterrence you have to be smart and make sure you're not followed home or even a tracker.

It is so shitty because if I end up going somewhere where the car will be left for an extended period of time I just find an alternate means of transportation LOL
