Hello All!
Just took delivery of #5466 here in Toronto, ON. Really lucky to have secured the allocation last year, Canadians are having a hell of a time getting their hands on these. This is the first and only 2023 allocation that our dealer secured; their next one comes in 2024, and of course is already spoken for.
Delivery Pic:
265/30R19, 19x9.5 +60 wheels put away as they would immediately be destroyed on our roads. Threw on our FK8's second setup for the time being, and I have to admit it looks super beefy! Steering is a little less responsive, but the ride comfort is leagues ahead. Comfort feels like 11th Gen Civic Si / new Integra, Sport firms up and the steering loads up nicely in turns. +R is pretty stiff and not pleasant enough to be just puttering around in but it's not crashy either over bad road surfaces as it was with the stock wheel setup that was on for the first day.
This would be a great Touring/Road Trip setup; we will end up swapping for some 18x9.5 +45, 275/35 later on but wanted to test this while a different setup is being tested on the FK8. Zero rub with 4 occupants + trunk full, and it closes the fender to wheel gap as it's taller than the OE wheel & tire package. 120kmh/75mph indicated on the dash is actually 124kmh/77.5mph on the accurate Waze GPS speed readout.
Stock Height - this setup will 100% rub on a lowered FL5
Superspeed RF05RR - 18x9.5 +38
Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 - 265/40R18
it's hard to compare the performance of our FK8 with the FL5 since the FK8 puts down 410whp and 380wtq, has $10K USD in suspension and chassis upgrades, $4K USD on brakes, and is set up to be pretty manic track weapon. However, the FL5 feels much more refined inside and out, the tech is excellent, and as a factory package it's more ready than the FK8 felt when stock. The FL5 will end up making similar power figures, but won't be as extreme a build as the FK8 is.
The FL5 goes in for a color change wrap tomorrow, and when it gets back we are hoping that we have a new prototype exhaust ready very soon to test out. Criteria is:
- Valved
- 3" T304 SS
- Front Pipe Included
- Resonated and Non-Resonated, and even Double Resonated options to eliminate drone once a Downpipe is added
- Multiple Tip options
Once the exhaust is on, and we've shot a few clips, it's time to add some power. Thread will be updated with info about the:
- 27WON 3" Downpipe. Testing with and without a Hondata Reflash.
- Hondata Unlock and Reflash
- 27WON Kuro Drop-in Turbo once 27WON releases an IC Kit. May choose to go with a PRL IC in the interim if 27WON is far out
- Intake. Eventuri should have options for the FL5 soon. Highly considering that since their FK8 offering on our car is brilliant
- Oil Catch Can. Mishimoto or Radium, either PCV can is good insurance
Suspension upgrades planned:
- 27WON Strut Bar w/Brake Brace
- Rear Sway Bar - undecided yet on which to go with
- Springs - highly likely it'll be Spoon
- Whiteline Anti Lift Kit
- Whiteline Adjustable Lower Ball Joints
- SPC Rear Camber Kit
- Spoon Rigid Collars
- Ultra Racing Chassis Braces
Transmission:
- Acuity Stage 3 once available
- Acuity Shift Knob + Collar
- Amsoil Synchromesh Fluid
Brakes:
- TBD
Exterior:
- Spoon or similar Front Lip
- Jets Vinyl Touches
- Color Change Wrap
Interior:
- Dream Automotive Seat Covers
More to come. Not going full racecar like we have/did with the FK8, there's no need for it
