Hi folks,
Car is currently stock other than a tune and (soon as I install it) an oil cooler.
I am trying to plan out the mods for the car with three goals in mind:
1) Keep in daily driver reliable
2) Make modestly more power on the street. 400-430
3) Avoid overheating on track under sustained heavy use - 20 minute sessions. No concerns with having a lower power tune for the track. I want to focus on driving not the temp gauge.
So there are some obvious things I need (pads, brake fluid, bigger radiator).
I have two open questions:
1) is there merit in upgrading the turbo to something bigger / more efficient to try and lower on-track temps. Basically for the same power level will a larger turbo help with heat management?
2) I was leaning towards keeping the stock intercooler for now as there is a lot of airflow on track and most people overheating seem to have the PRL intercooler and the reduced air flow as a result.
I would appreciate any perspectives from the tuners / track rats out there. Thank you!
No concerns with spending the $$$ for fuel system upgrades, intercooler, etc. Just want to build it correctly - once
