What did you do to your FL5 today?

How does this even happen? It looks like it pooled up and soaked in. Not a smudge from someone with dirty hands or clothes. But someone thought the oil cap was inside the car and started pouring.

At my shop, I religiously wash my hands before I even get in a customer car and I use the plastic seat covers

Ok, so I got clarity from the service advisor that it was not oil ‍. It gets better, apparently the service tech had a Sharpie marker in his back pocket and when he sat in the seat, the cap popped off. I was told that he should’ve used a seat cover, but seems that wasn’t the case. I’ll be taking it back on Monday to see if their “Master Detailer” can get it out. I spoke with the manager and told him that I’ll likely just want a replacement lower cover. I doubt that it’ll look brand new again l, especially if they have to use harsh chemicals. Oh well, I have confidence it’ll get rectified.

I will order some of those items that @Clark_Kent suggested for future interactions with technicians… lesson learned the hard way.

Their "Master Detailer" is probably the youth out back with the water hose that provides courtesy washes after service. This is a waste of your time and theirs. Just pass, have them order you the lower portion of the seat so you can move on. You may need the cushion/pad AND the cover since it may have bled through.

I absolutely loath bringing my car anywhere for service because of stuff like this. Happens all too often due to careless and thoughtless actions. I'm fine being the nerd who hands over his car with protection in place if it means I can lower the probability of these types of outcomes.

@Xmetal If at all possible no honda dealer for my TypeR . My first SGP at the time they turned the wipers on have no idea why but they turned them up like a change wiper and saw the powder on the paint edge fresh paint powder . Lucky just on the hood edge by window and topped the edge . Oh and had just washed the so not to drag it on the dusty paint mechanic mitts. Water all over the windshield and drips over the paint . I’m assuming they tester wiper washer .

Not possible to avoid the Honda dealer in my case unless I want to shell out $900+ out of pocket for a new inner door panel and DIY it!

WTF, my dealer always covered the seats in plastic and uses the paper floor mats. I hope they are able to fix it.

I wouldn't assume they will "always" cover the seats in plastic. I been into my dealer on 3 different occasions and they've used plastics to cover the seats only 1 out of the 3 times, which is why I use my own "covering".

At the dealer I go to they do. The porter puts down the plastic and paper mat first thing when you pull up for service and puts the number on top of the car. Then the advisor takes down the mileage, videos and pictures while you stand by watching before going in to write up the service. None of that is an assumption when I’m watching them do it in front of me. I’ve only gone a number of times mostly with my Sport Touring, but that was how they did it every time.

Also look close under lighting and make sure when cleaning it doesn’t fade, fuzz or turn pink . I hope your ok
If not they should replace it and don’t accept it that’s to nice of a car.

Honestly…the dealer I have is amazing. They installed my intake and take great care of my car. Very rare. First dealer I took it to, they put 1 less quart of oil in my car for an oil change and my car threw a signal. So I found the one I go to currently.

Well, I did this a few days ago, but a super clean S2000 AP1 showed up nearby and I traded my FL5 for it + some cash back in my pocket. It was a very hard decision that I had been noodling for months. When this one showed up I just couldn’t let the opportunity slip away. The car was meticulously cared for by 1 owner (not counting the dealer). It’s in near time capsule condition. As they say, “Out with the new and in with the old!” …er…something like that.

I’ll still be here lurking because y’all are cool and I like the FL5. I’m jelly of those who have both an FL5 and S2000 (or Porsche Cayman/911) in their garage. And who knows? I might be back in an FL5 someday.

I just got my Alcantara Steering Wheel delivered and wheels put on. Had to order a torque wrench and some thin wall sockets to make sure the lugs are set properly. I should get that tomorrow.
