Must be the gas guzzler tax 😔
Nope - Gas guzzler tax is on top of that! Usually between an additional $1000 to $7700 depending on how much under the combined MPG set forth by the EPA. Welcome to the communist republic of california!

Wait - it gets better...there's possibly a mileage surcharge coming soon! Yes, you get charge every mile that you drive!

They said that 12 years ago, and are still in the researching/planning stages. Its probably not gonna happen any time soon.

No amount of EPA regulation is gonna change the fact that cities like LA shouldn't really exist. Peak hubris. We literally took a desert valley and terraformed it into a liveable place, then wonder why there's constant drought and smog clouds. When you have a place like that, the air is gonna settle.

It exist and millions of residents enjoy it, there's just a price to pay.

Now if they don't enjoy it and complain about the price to pay, there's the other 49 states.

I'm hoping that you're right, but it doesn't prevent them from trying to find a different way to implement it every single year
They didn't even pass a law to make it happen, it was only a committee to look into it.

Oh I mean from a sustainability stand point. The state that loves putting all these laws into effect also created the problems itself.

It's like if we melted a crater in the north pole and built a city in it - and then then there were laws saying you have to restrict how long you have the heat on in your house so it doesn't melt the ice around you.

Conceptual problem, mostly just poking at the subject haha

I lived in California in the late '60s and early '70s - Sierra Madre, Pasadena, Santa Barbara.
It was a nice place back then. Not crowded and not really that expensive.
Times have changed.

To be fair, smog regulations made a huge difference during my lifetime. I grew up in the smoggy 70s SoCal and it SUCKED. We would would watch the nightly smog forecast as part of the weather. It's way better now such that smog isn't on people's minds any more.

Paid MSRP plus TTL... got Lojack, tint, and appearance protection package (whatever that is) for free.

Basically called around on Black Friday (Which was also next to last day of the month) to all my local dealers in DFW, most wanted a markup and I when I got to Honda of Rockwall, they said MSRP plus the add-ons that were already installed... I didn't reply immediate and in about an hour got another text saying they'd do MSRP plus tint and the rest free if I did it that day... I waited another hour before replying because I was busy and got a text saying they'd just include everything for MSRP.

I jumped on that right away and said gimme the vin for insurance, I'll be there in the morning... and that was that. Bought the car on Saturday November 30th and was a super simple process. Car was ready for us as we pulled up, just had to sign some paperwork and out the door pretty much. My Wife negotiated Honda Care 7yr/100Kmiles for dealer cost and that was the only add on we wanted.... mainly because it came in handy on our FK8 which we still own.

I paid MSRP+ 199 doc fee Skyway honda Bartlesville. I called them before any were showing on the website and they said they had one in California but it would be a month. Put a deposit and picked it up a month later

Around Nov/Dec all of the local dealers got 2-3 at the same time and "flooded" the market. Several sold for MSRP, 3 are still sitting at 54K 3 months later.

Paid MSRP + TTL with little to no effort. Only called one dealership that morning and negotiated over the phone - picked it up that same night. I'd assume with some cross shopping and negotiations you could find one below msrp relatively easily in most areas.
