Bouncing in the brake zone may have kept the anti-lock active and screw with the braking distance. Or the dumb idea to run on stock brake fluid for a car that can hold its own against much more powerful machinery
Yeah, why would one track the car hard with stock brake fluid? Makes no sense.

Tsuchiya went fastest in Comfort, even around a smooth track like Tsukuba. More and more, it seems like +R with damper cancelers is the way to go.
Damper cancelers are a bad idea, though I've seen it posted on this forum. I tried it to see, and the car became completely underdamped. Definitely NOT the way to go unless you want to bottom out and also wear out your dampers. Stick to Comfort mode.

Read this thread, and read the conclusion.

Misha drives Dream Automotive's FL5
More like Nightmare Automotive's FL5 :) No way OEM oil temp does that, sorry. They did something they won't say on camera.

Can you elaborate?

I cringed the whole time I watched this, that oil temp (if accurate) was scary high

The guy from Dream Automotive seemed too relaxed about it. Maybe their air intake mod and other stuff is affecting the cooling. Don't know, but I'm saying this because I've seen other FL5s run without getting oil near that 150C temp. So it's either an issue with the car from factory or the mods done to it. My bet is on the latter.

I may be missing something, but i felt their being so relaxed may have been that they were sure the lap record car was not stock, so they were satisfied to see it. And, if they did do any mods, then it wasn't stock and it wasn't replicating what they were trying to prove. Not sure, but nothing adds up.

I’m kinda wondering if 18’s with the right tires would provide enough compliance to balance out the R+ mode’s suspension tuning. I imagine on at least some tracks it might work great.🤔

Keep in mind ambient temps and weather conditions were not likely the exact same as the day that Honda set the record either. Different car. Different driver. Different conditions. This video proves absolutely nothing and is not scientific whatsoever…though they try to frame it as such. Such is the way of the internet.

If someone really wanted to go about this the correct way, they’d get an FL5 S grade, Cup 2 tires, ensure all fluids and levels are the same, and take it to the N-ring on a day with identical weather conditions (as identical as possible, anyway).
