Just curious what others are seeing for oil pressure on a warmed up engine.

I’m seeing about 20 psi at idle and around 0-75 psi while cruising at 50mph in 5th gear.

Coolant temp in these examples is 175F and oil temp is 161F. I have about 700 miles on the car now.

Is the 20psi at idle “normal”?

Seems to be about what I'm getting. 20 PSI at idle and 70-80 PSI while driving. Temps anywhere between 170-190F. I'm at 10K+ miles.

The Honda UK Owners Manual shows 0W-20 through 5W-30 viscosity oils are acceptable.

The higher viscosity oil will provide superior film protection at low rpm's/high load and higher idle oil pressure. Also 5W-20 and 5W-30 will put less vapors in the PCV system.

BTW the UK manual also provides the (now old fashion) maintenance schedules per time/mileage.

When I'm warmed up and cruising 60-80mph oil pressure is between 77-80psi, water temps between 180-187F.

I've done multiple pulls to redline in 5th gear. And WOT pull to 155mph. Was pegged at 80psi oil pressure the entire time, oil temps indicated in the 230's and water temp like 208 - 215 ish.

Running quaker state 5w40 which VOA shows is more like a 5w30.

If you watch @PointByPatrol YouTube videos on track it's a plethora of data points for oil pressure vs temps as well.

Wow - that's heavier oil than factory recommended, isn't it? Are you running 5w40 because you are tracking it?

I run Motul 300v 0w-20. So if you look at some of the videos you'll see what the pressure looks like on the factory weight.

On 0w20 I was getting 20psi fully warmed up idle and mid 70s psi around 70mph in 6th gear.

I haven't tracked the FL5 yet, but I will sometime this year. I run 5w40 because I believe the 0w20 is more for CAFE standards than it is for severe duty use. Also, I'm lazy and stock up on the same oil for my four cars, Subaru Forester XT, EVO X, BRZ, and FL5. I am very comfortable running 5w40 in winter here in WI as well.

I'm going to run 5w-30 this summer. I'm leaning towards HPL 0w-30 year-round after my stash of 5w30 is gone. My idle is also right at 20psi (warmed up engine)

Is anyone getting lower than 20psi at idle? Now that weather has warmed up a bit here, I’m dipping to 16-17psi which seems awfully close to the 14.5 min. Thats at maybe 190-200F oil temps, far from what some people have seen on track.

What oil are you running? I'd be concerned about pressure at max load compared to idle when warm regardless. 0w20 I'm seeing 23psi but ambient is only 70s with oil temp being 180f
