New to Honda and type r. I did some research on the fk8 and saw there was a “facelift” in the 3-4th production year with a bunch of changes, albeit individually none seemed very major. But in total did add up. Any idea if the type r will see a “facelift” for MY 2025, and if so, what that might entail? Trying to determine if it’s worth purchasing now or waiting another 6 months if changes are expected. Not in a real rush so I’m curious.

I'm not sure anyone can really answer this, but I wouldn't expect any this year... but possibly next? My guess is they're actively working on the next gen, almost certainly to be a hybrid, so odds are it will take an extra year of development AT LEAST. The FL5 possibly has a "lifecycle impulse" in its future, I just think the 3rd model year is probably too soon to expect anything significant.

All that said, the most likely answer is that it will get zero changes at all over its life cycle. These things are the last of their kind, and it's not like they're having a hard time moving them. I don't think there's much incentive to invest much in adding new features, from a business perspective.

An LE variant will probably happen, but good luck with that. If dealers are still trying to get $15k over for a car that has literally thousands on lots across the country, I can't imagine how they'll try to rob people for a true limited edition.

Get a car now if you want one. Life's too short to speculate on things like this. Plus the cost will go up year over year anyway.

1000, not thousands, and why speculate, after the new one, there may be a new one and another new one, just enjoy your life

If you can get it now, get it. There will be no facelift for the my2025. Should just seize the opportunity and have fun with the car rather than wait.

History always repeats itself. Everytime when the regular civic gets a facelift, the Type R follow, except the FK2 generation which it was already based on the facelifted look. So I am pretty sure the FL5 will get a subtle facelift as well (since we have already seen the facelifted looks from the new Civic Hybrid or the JDM RS). But don’t get too excited for the hardware and specs as it will most likely only get the new infotainment system and new Honda Sensing features, give or take some fine tuning on shifter feel and cooling etc.

This has been heralded as a three year run. Not likely to change anything in the last year.

I prefer to use autotrader to get a better picture of the market. Many of those crowsourced entries had been without any update for many months.

554 new 24' CTRs Nationwide are up for sale right now
Used FL5 - 99 nationwide

This is right on. Autotrader or cars.com aren't perfect, but those trackers have data integrity issues. They're only a guide. The true number is closer to 500-600.

Yea that 3-year production run to me is a huge grain of salt. Nothing has been confirmed.
There are some materials from a presentation in Japan that showed production run through 2025 I believe. I can’t find them right now but know they were posted on here in 2022. So that could have changed but is the only info on duration so far.

Also the motoring obsession tool says there are about 650 actually on the ground, which lines up somewhat with autotrader. But dang, that's still a lot of these sitting

^Exactly, it was just hilarious to me that it said over 1000 when dealers are still trying to get upwards of $15k ADM. I don't care if it's off by a few hundred, that's insane.
