I keep track of everything in an Excel sheet, which might not be the best idea—it just reminds me that I could have put this money into the S&P 500 or Bitcoin and possibly tripled it. But at the end of the day, I want to enjoy life while my body still allows it.

The total cost of my rolling modifications is $45,800, covering all maintenance and expensive track tires (excluding track day fees and insurance).

I did consider two other options: a used modded GT4 from a friend for $120K or a brand new M2. However, both would have come with higher insurance and maintenance costs, and their reliability was less certain compared to the Type R. Sometimes, I wonder if the GT4 might have been a more cost-effective choice in the long run, but I ultimately went with the Honda, prioritizing longevity, affordability, and practicality. With four doors and enough space for luggage, I can take it on long trips without worry. Plus, if I ever crash the Type R, it wouldn’t hurt nearly as much as wrecking a $120K used GT4.

I'm still estimating another $10K in upgrades for the Type R, including a fuel system upgrade, flex-fuel setup, tune, and an upgraded turbo. I also need to set aside an extra $10K for a forged engine rebuild—just in case the stock engine decides to call it quits.
Could have also put it into AI call options 😭 🤮

A put option would be ideal right now, but I've taken some heavy losses on those trades before. Unfortunately, I can't predict stock futures like Pelosi. I'm fine with dollar cost averaging (DCA). I do have Bitcoins and Ethereums in a Roth IRA, along with stocks in a Roth IRA and a 401(k). I'll have to wait until I'm 59 1/2 to start withdrawing. If I’m still around by then, maybe we’ll all have teleporting Type Rs. Hopefully, the market recovers soon. I'm getting hit pretty hard right now.

Could have also put it into AI call options 😭 🤮

If my wife see this post I spend 300
On the front 70% tint and the rock guard
But other than that I have a JLT catch can 200
PRL coolant expansion 340
PRL battery tie down for improved downforce 🤣 60 I think
plastic back protector accessories 160
Zl1 jackpoint thing 90
And the spot for the Hondata Jailbreak that is 860 + the price of a tune
But mine is stock in terms of intake and all that waiting on the 27 won exhaust but if comes with the mid pipe I gone install it oem mid pipe and 27 won exhaust. Maybe I’m kind of the threshold of age that I don’t want to heavy modified a car.

You guys will like this one (and it's not even on the FL5!).

Bought my civic sport hatch about 2 years ago and thought the engine could do a lot more than it really could. Dumped money into building the suspension, did all the bolt ones the c2 could take and had it tuned. Also paid for some body work and ended up buying some carbon fiber I never installed.

If I were to ballpark the numbers since I don't want to look back at my receipts, I'd say suspension (with labor) was probably around $5k, then all the engine bolt ones were around $3k (exhaust included), the bodywork in total was around $3k. So in total, a little over $10k if you include all the labor.

The carbon fiber adds to that, but since it's not on the car, I won't include it on the price 😅

Something changed in my brain recently (maybe that thing about your brain maturing after 25?) and now I'm trying to sell all the stuff I bought. Hopefully enough to recoup some costs and get an FL5, should be able to outright buy the car by the summer unless they announce a 2026 model that's updated.
