Finished product. Fits just like the original mirror with 0 play.

Wow this is the perfect solution @beaterfl5. I ran into the same issue with the new clips not latching on securely and happened upon this post. What did you use to attach the two pieces together? I was thinking of J-B Weld "Clear Weld" epoxy.

I took it to a machine shop and they grinded everything down smooth and then used the original center thread to put it back together.

thanks. much smarter than my plan of cutting off the old part with a Dremel and then attaching it with epoxy 😆
yeah def take it to a shop and have it done with someone who has the right tools to do a clean job. I actually used a dremmel to remove the oem type r mounting bracket off the mirror, and had the shop do the rest, but in hindsight I should have taken both mirrors to them to begin with. Would have been a much better finished product.

Just wanted to thank all of you for your work on this! Got mine installed and working today. Still messing with the radar detector/wiring bc there isnt any room for the ground pin to slide into the connector. I might just wire it to the dome light :dunno:

Sorry if this has been discussed, but for those of you who installed this, are there any obvious vibration noises and does the viewing angle change drastically from the stock mirror?

Also, I'm assuming I would be able to use the Dongar adapter for a dash cam, does anyone know which plug type I'd need for the Dongar?

Mine has been installed for over a year and absolutely no noises. Never noticed any differences as far as the view goes. Car should have come this way from the factory

I don't think its positioned exactly the same but i have no proof for or against this nor could i tell you how its different.. if you think a small angle change of view is going to be a big deal, then just leave it.
I suggest going to ebay for the mirror - got mine for $30 (was off a 22 MDX w/a tiny scratch on the glass).. no noises or any complaints here.. install was easy too.
Also i did end up wiring my radar detector to the dome light - more room in the back of the plug for wires imo.

1yr in, no vibrations, angle felt slightly different but nothing major and got used to it very quickly.

I did notice the shape of the old mirror some what followed the lines of the stock rear spoiler more. The autodim did not. No big deal because I rather have non-blinding lights at night. Still one of my favorite quality of life upgrades. This autodim mirror + Rexpeed side blue mirrors and my night driving has been so much better.

I just finished mine couple days ago. Only took it out for a night drive once after that. Not loose at all. Everything works. Frameless gives it a premium look for sure. Wish it retained the original shape. Still no problem viewing behind. Install was very easy. Youtube videos helped tremendously. Taking the "one time use" clip wasn't too hard. Just have to use like a screwdriver to push and slide it off the trim once it's popped out and dangling. Then you can use 1 or 2 flat heads to take clip out of the A-pillar frame. Also, if you examine the clip you can use 1 or 2 flat heads to reset it back to original position and the clip can be reused.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, picking up a FL5 soon and this was one of the first things I wanted to do along with the side mirrors.

Did you guys disconnect the battery when working around the A pillar? Or is it safe to leave it connected?

I disconnected mine only because i was putting my intake back to stock - was waiting for a revised part.
