After now have heard a bunch of them I am gonna say that best sounding is Spoon with a DP. Actually sounds really good. I think without DP it will be too quite but outside car sounds the best of any other exhaust I have heard.

I am running a TSP downpipe and Spoon exhaust. It is definitely the quietest aftermarket exhaust Ive heard especially with a downpipe. Couldnt be happier. Its mildly audible with a nice deep tone, while not being obnoxious. Im 48, so my straight pipe days are over. lol

I’m about to make a final decision on an exhaust. It’s between Apexi, Fujitsubo and HKS Hi Power. I wanted to look at Remark Q spec but apparently it’s being revised and not available.

How do you like the Fujitsubo? I‘ve heard that it’s marginally louder than the OEM exhaust. Do you find it to be worth the cost given that it’s a slip fit system and not flange based? Would you buy it again?
I found the fuji to be on the more quiet side. I ran Apexi last on my FL5, I did like the looks and sound the best.

Got them in stock too.

I’m thoroughly enjoying my Q300 exhaust I installed last week. I previously ran the remark dual tip stainless but I removed it due to drone. This new setup is the sweet spot for me, loud when I want it and quiet when I don’t. Bonus that the tone with the valve open from inside the cabin is very aggressive and sounds nothing like the YouTube clips of the exhaust, in a good way.

Don't mean to thread-jack but I saw 2x FL5 Q300's pop up in Invidia USA's inventory, and I locked them down within a minute of receiving the notification. I got the ones with Black Tips.

If anyone's interested, feel free to place the order and we'll get one out to you with no lead time :)

I'll also probably get a decibel reader.
Alright, Spoon Exhaust Installed. We recorded some data with a decibel readers. The car still a bit warm and will redo it with a cold start later (to match the stock exhaust recording better).

Subjective observations: It sounds much "smoother", much deeper (you can sort of feel it more than hear it, especially inside the car), and very slightly louder (particularly in non-R modes since it's no longer valved). Noise difference is particularly noticeable when Idling or at low-speeds. Compared to the stock exhaust, it seems to eliminate a lot of the high- and mid-tones in favor of the deeper ones.

The car feels like it has a bit more zip, not significantly, but a tiny bit. Makes me think there's a slight performance bump (likely ~5 hp, 10 max).

Took a quick night drive: Inside sound is a little bit louder, but also much more of background bass than the current which is quieter but more peaky. I haven't done a long drive, but it sounded nice on a short one. The exhaust also sounds good from the inside, like it was more tuned for the driver than a spectator.

I recorded some data from before and after install.

db Measurement:

Stock Exhaust Idle in +R mode
, measured in line with rear wheel and slightly behind the exhaust: Average hovered around 58 dB, Peak 74 dB.

Spoon Idle (valves don't change with mode), measured in same location: Average around 62 dB, peak of 70.7 dB.

So it's base noise was higher, it's peak was lower, though the lower peak is possibly due to condition difference.

I'll note that the temperature was about 10°F warmer on the Spoon measurement and the car had only sat for about 6 hours instead of a full 3 days. I'll try it again later after it sits. This also falls in line with how it subjectively sounds.

Very Quick Drive-by:

Stock, +R mode,
measured on the curb while car is in the middle of the road: Max db was 88.3.

Spoon, Touring, same standing spot: Max dB 77.5

Spoon, +R: 79.5 (recorded). Repeated tests later clock it around 87 dB (unrecorded, camera died).

Conclusion: The exhaust accomplished my wife's desire of having something that sounds richer and deeper since this cuts the higher tones really well. It also is about the same noise level, though it feels louder since bass tones always "hit" a bit different.

Video below. Camera used was a DJI Action Cam. I'll note that the camera picks up bass tones super well, high tones okay, but is awful about mid-tones. So just know you're not hearing true-to-life of either (no mic really does). I'll take a longer video of the new exhaust later and actually charge the camera.

Has anyone gone the diy or even alibaba route with exhaust valve controllers yet? Milltek and ASR can be ordered on their own but for an arm and a leg IMO since all they do is open and close a valve, hybrid has their own but it only comes with the exhaust.

I’m running the Q300 but finding that I really want full control over the valve like the type s comes with stock, but if the controllers are all $500 I’d rather get a custom tune and have the tuner modify the valve behavior tables per drive mode for less.

I vastly prefer the idle tone with the fuse trick done and the valve locked open, plus the system has a lot of depth to it that is lost when the valve closes at 2300rpm on decel.

I remember looking into it when I bought my miltek exhaust. I like to drive the car in +R with valve closed, sounds the best to me, on the track +R and valve open but valve open on the non res its just too much so a controller was a must.

I tried a 11 mode controller, they are cheaper, I was testing it for them but I could not get it to work, this was over a year ago, I bet they figured it out now. However I did not like that it only had 2 options, oem or always open, I wanted a always closed option. After looking on end and looking into DIY and thinking above my pay grade I just paid for the miltek. It was black friday and got a few discounts so I think was $300 vs the outrageous close to $500 they are asking for it, even $300 is way too much but I will say it has been excellent, its a quality product

Has anyone swapped to the Integra Type S exhaust?

I am Phearable tuned which i think has the valve open all the time and I have the front resonator delete. I'm not happy with how the car sounds. When I watch videos online of the Type S exhaust I really like it. Is it just the muffler in missing or is there something else that I would need to try and replicate the Type S exhaust note?

Thanks for any input.

Have you tried confirming if the valve is open all the time or would be valve table looks like?
