Speaking of civic si. Does anyone here have both si and type r? Or plan to have both. I am getting a type r but I really want a si for daily commute. Maybe I am doing it wrong and just have the type r to daily. I honestly love both the si and type r. Also is there a tracker for si? Hard to find an orange one.

Just get 2 Type Rs -- a 2023 AND a 2024 -- and then let us know the differences.

I picked mine up on 9/12 for only $3,690 over. I contacted over 20 dealerships and talked with the ones that responded quickest with under $10k markup. I lucked into this deal as someone had already negotiated it down but didn't want to pick it up until the weekend. They got me $100 lower than that person to pick it up the next day.

It's been like the wild west.

I've had dealers call me and they were basically holding silent auction. You submit your bid and the highest would win the opportunity to buy the car, lol.

In the early stages people were paying 70K+ to get one.

it was $4k under my local dealer and none of the $5k mark-up dealers wanted to even pretend they could match it. I felt good enough about it that I pulled the trigger. didn't care if it was a lie or not

Having paid a 7k markup (with accessories) at the beginning of the year, i'm like everyone else who has said that a price between 5-7k ADM (that included accessories) was worth it. So, you did fine (if you're happy)... and you aren't encouraging any major gouging by the dealers.

Note - the earlier we buy, the lower the MSRP. The msrp has come up almost 1k already since i bought my car. Also, i had to finance part, and the interest rates have shot up a couple of points since i got my car. And then... i've been able to enjoy my car the whole time now -- this isn't a trinket -- we get to USE the car when we get it, and it has been worth the price just to be able to drive it.

Now, having said that... for those of you who have been waiting either out of need or out of principle... i probably would have waited if i wasn't trading in an old car. It looks like the stars are aligning for y'all to get some wicked end-of-year deals...
Have you checked the map?? There's a crapload of cars RIGHT NOW in transit. Looks like Honda is in the process of sending out their final 2023 shipments.
So...
* There's a bunch of cars already sitting at dealerships
* There's a bunch of 2023s in transit
* There will be a bunch of 2024s available as of the end of November
* The dealerships will certainly want to clear out their 2023 inventory and make those end-of-year sales goals.

If i were still looking for a car, i would be calling AND VISITING in person...letting the sales managers know what my price was, and to let them know that if they met that price, the car would go out the door that day (i also intentionally let them know my finances would be ok, too). You may have to wait until they start sweating in November... but it should work.

You see, even in today's market, i had salespeople calling me when cars arrived or when their customer couldn't make financing. If something had gone wrong with my 1st deal, i at least would have had a real shot at a couple other cars. And, several other people on here have talked about the same thing.

THE KEY IS...
You want to be the FIRST person on their mind when they are ready to move the car.

While I agree with much of what 1971Camaro said, I don't particularly subscribe to the whole "going in person" thing. I would much rather cast a wide net online, exercise patience and not appear desperate.

All the power to ya if you can get one at MSRP, but after going through the process of buying 2 FL5s in the last month, 5k over seems to be the best deals I've seen.

This differs for everyone, but at some point I think it's important to factor the cost of your time and how bad you want the car. If you can wait and you don't mind spending the time, great... I however do not have the patience for that and my excitement of owning the car and driving it have erased any negative feelings I have about paying over MSRP.

That is more power to you who is able to swing the extra cash for immediate enjoyment. Some people like to exercise delay gratification, and there is nothing wrong with either as long as you can "afford" it. Even though it might not worth my time searching for the best deal, I enjoy the process in digging for that MSRP FL5. It quite fun to be honest.
