I've done a bit of research on the FK8 forums but can't seem to find a solid answer. Are there any aftermarket dipsticks that are easier to read than the OEM orange tip that is stock on the FL5?

I finally did my own oil change this last weekend. The fact that I can barely see the new oil on the dipstick is frustrating. It shouldn't be this hard to read. I never struggled with past B series or the F20C in my S2000 so I really don't understand why Honda would make it HARDER to read the oil level in their modern engines.

The K-Tuned magnetic dipstick looks promising. I've also considered buying another stock dipstick and breaking off the orange tip to just have the raw metal perform better.

I agree its a pos but there are ways to read it and make it sufficient (again should be designed better).
You gotta look at it from the side and not straight on oil will pool and you can see the oil "bubble".
I also sometimes to double confirm use a blue shop tower and just touch the oil to transfer to towel and compare where the line is with the stick.

But yeah again its a pos and a terrible design. But hey at least it has a dip stick which my BMW didn't have.

Supposedly you can break off the orange piece and just use the metal underneath. Whoever thought they should redesign a dipstick that has been the same for 100 years is a moron.

Yeah…I don’t get it. Pretty much every car manufacturer has a different dipstick and it can even vary between engines from the same manufacturer. I have 3 Honda vehicles. All 3 have a different dipstick design. The worst of the 3 is easily the one in the Type R. The best might be the good ol steel rod with 2 holes punched in it. Why do these engineers insist on reinventing the wheel especially with something so simple and worked just fine before?🤦‍♂️

Looks nice. I assume just the knob is titanium, but the stick itself is stainless steel?
Not sure. They have great customer service, so you could probably reach out to them.

Yes, This is what I did and it works fine. The orange plastic just makes it harder to read. Here's what it looks like without the plastic (I rounded the end with a file). The barely visible scratch marks above the top (round) hole and below the bottom hole are where the holes in the orange plastic part were. So the holes in the metal can still serve the same purpose, they are just slightly above the original low and slightly below the the original high marks.

The entire dipstick from Chasing Js is titanium!
Any photos of the bottom of the dipstick? It doesn't look like there are any low/high indicator holes.
