Similar to the 27won snorkel. It’s probably okay for the street but not good for the track.

Why might that be bad for track use

It blocks airflow to the radiator. It’s been tested and verified by a few that track the car.

I believe the snorkel was tested in this vid by Point by Patrol

Pointbypatrol showed in a torture test that the snorkel does impact radiator airflow. I think its fine for daily driving or highway runs. As far as I know, SpoonUSA doesn’t even offer a snorkel, correct me if im wrong. I still run mine at the track, but i also have an aftermarket vented hood. the snorkel only blocks a small portion of the radiator, which isn’t a big deal if you’ve got multiple supporting mods. But if you’re chasing every bit of airflow and really pushing the car at the track, then it definitely matters. i dont even think we have any technical proof that the snorkel does add more HP.

The intake airflow pinch point is under the front of the hood at the airbox entrance. I wouldn't recommend ducting through there, as it could further reduce the flow area. It's not clear where this duct is routed.

Similar snorkels were offered for my FR-S and S2000. I tried both but wasn't convinced they were better than stock. I kept the FR-S snorkel on because the inlet worked well with a rodent screen attached and we were surrounded by woods.

The S2000 in NA has ZERO heating issues on the track. A snorkel will not introduce any issues.

So do intake boxes that have a snorkel (say blitz/gruppem) effect/negatively impact airflow like the 27won snorkel on track?

Was thinking in that case what the ideal intake would be for a track setup

That’s a good question. The GruppeM ram air tray isn’t nearly as invasive or covering up as the snorkel shown is. Would be interesting to see a “with and without” test of the air tray for comparison

I think the 27won snorkel, or a snorkel of any kind would be great for drag racing, short stent autocross, or even illegal street pulls in Florida for pinks, but on the track for extended sessions, it did prove that it was a burden to the cooling system.
