Lower center of gravity with springs or coilovers and Thicker sways. The car feels super stiff on r settings, but on high speed sweeping turns I get a lot of body roll. What is the best way to fix?
Thick Rear Sway Bar, and if you're up for quite some labor then a Front Sway Bar as well. We just supplied a setup for a DE5, the customer's super happy with the setup! The car feels super stiff on r settings, but on high speed sweeping turns I get a lot of body roll. What is the best way to fix?
should be a good setup, IMOIs the rv6 a good option with spoon springs?
Isn’t that a good thing for the track so you can turn in harder/faster?I added stiffer sway bars to another car and body roll was greatly reduced. However cornering traction went down since stiffer bars transfer more weight to the outside tires, unloading the inside tires. Especially noticeable powering out of corners.
You mentioned ordering the DSC controller, have you received, installed and evaluated?A more expensive but worthwhile mod so far to me has been the SDI e-CLIK suspension controller, which allows me to take over control of the dampers and I can confirm it's pretty much eliminated body roll. I also have H&R Springs and a 22mm Progress Rear Sway Bar, which helps but nowhere as immediately noticeable as active suspension.
DSC has a similar offering but without the screen so you need to hook up your laptop for changes to the software. I bought one of those as well to test out, and waiting for delivery and testing to weigh in on it.
Brief overview of SDI:
Not yet since we're still snowed and salted in, and car's stored. You mentioned ordering the DSC controller, have you received, installed and evaluated?
I fully understand your observations on using overly stiff sway bar settings (RV6 comes to mind in middle and stiff hole setup). I am looking for a slight 10-15% increase in stiffness to aid in lower speed tight corner induced push on turns. A Whiteline 22mm rear bar in the softest setting should help without creating other undesirable issues.Stock CTR body roll is already near zero. Increasing swaybar thickness will stiffen the ride and transfer more load to the outside tires, which already do most of the work. Stiff swaybars also increase head toss, which I find anoying.
Stiffening only the rear bar may result in excessive oversteer. I've overstiffened the rear in past cars and found myself pointing the wrong direction too many times.
