I assume the auto rev match physically moves the gas pedal? I think the auto cruise in my Si moved the pedal if I remember right.
No, auto rev match doesn’t move the pedal. The ECU does the auto rev match directly to the engine. Yeah, for cruise control I’ve owned cars that move/hold the pedal. I’m not sure if this is still the norm. I haven’t paid enough attention to it in my current vehicles including my FL5.

I'm all for manuals, but on most high performance cars, having only 6 gears doesn't work well - too long/tall. The engines are tuned to work with dual-clutch/auto boxes now for the most part. If you want a manual M3 for example, you get a lower-powered engine. So yeah, I would never take that M3. Just one example. Cayman and 911s are the same.
I am getting a manual G80 in a couple of years. The lower power does not bother me since with a reflash they will both make the same power once tuned. Its really just ecu mapping that is different. The auto will always be faster but screw it, I think it will be one of the few optioned with a manual.

On these cars no the pedal does not move since its drive by wire. The pedal used to move on cruise control on cabled operated cars. Its no longer needed since the ecu can control the throttle body flap with just an electrical signal.

I learned to drive on a "three on the tree" pickup truck and the first 10-15 years of my driving life were on nothing but manual cars. Driving a manual car became purely 2nd nature and I'm not sure I knew the term 'heal-n-toe', but you knew how to blip the throttle on downshifts because it was a necessity. With that being said I've had my CTR for the better part of 3 months and I still haven't turned off the auto rev-matching yet.
