Hi Bros! Went to do my oil change and checked the pressure in my tires after. I noticed tire rot on one of the wheels an the sidewall. I went to check the other tires and noticed that they also have rotting in the same places. I contacted Michelin through their website to find if warranty was covered.

this is what they replied:

"Thanks for contacting the Michelin Consumer Care Team.

We are sorry to hear you are having a sidewall cracking issue with your tires.

Sidewall cracking is commonly related to ozone interaction with rubber, but depending on the severity, it may only be a cosmetic issue that does not affect tire performance or safety."

* anybody experience rotting? please check.

I purchased the FL5 from the dealership with 7 miles on it back in May 2025came with the OEM stock Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 265/30ZR19

Ozone... really?

Do you park your car outside 24/7? I also purchased my car May of last year and do not have this issue.

I do not have issues.. yet? I havent had Michelin tires in a long time, but when i was a mechanic i remember coworkers saying they threw in a capful of transmission fluid. Apparently this was to try to keep them from dry rotting.. Did you tell them the age of your tires? ozone as an excuse makes sense if you are talking about an older tire.. you know like 3+ years old (imo).. i also dont know what your tires look like.

I'm sure the DWS06 will last forever! I had ECS on other cars, which are a "softer" compound and those will go at least 25k - 30k unless you drive like a maniac.

Rotting is odd for one year old tires.

Miles?
What's the coldest weather you've driven in?
Track events?
Pics?

- 3100 miles (purchase May 2025). I don't use tire wet / polish when I wash the car. I do the recommended 35 PSI in the front and 33 PSI in the rear.
- Never drove the car under 45 degrees.
- No track events. My round trip work commute is 7 miles. I drive it 3-4 times a week. On snow days, I pay for indoor parking that charges by the day.
- No pics.

That's crazy, I'd be PO'd.

Their ozone/weather statement vs warranty sounds like just a disclaimer. Follow their instructions and have the tires inspected. If your dealership is cool, they’ll handle everything and make sure Michelin takes care of you. I’m sure it’ll be fine as long as the tires appear to be in good shape (not abused).

The ozone statement makes some sense for 10-year-old tires. For yours, it doesn't make much sense.
As suggested, have someone at Michelin or the dealer look at them.

2023 MY and same with being garage kept most of its life and cracking before 10k (car has less than 11k miles). The tires actually delaminated. So the cracking may just be an uncommon flaw.
