Agree. Just use jack pads. Hell…a piece of wood can work. I’ve even used a wadded up shop rag in a pinch (pun intended)! I think these pinch weld protectors that are attached to the car are more for folks who have shops do the work. I think someone else here mentioned that they put them on the car when they take the car in for service, then remove them when they get the car back home. Seems reasonable to me if it helps him sleep at night.They sell jack pinch weld pads that just sit in the jack instead of this product, these are intended to be permanently installed.
